Saint Joseph the Worker

Prayer Before Work to St. Joseph the Worker

O Glorious Saint Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work in a spirit of penance for the expiation of my many sins; to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my natural inclinations; to work with thankfulness and joy, considering it an honor to employ and develop by means of labor the gifts received from God; to work with order, peace, moderation, and patience, never shrinking from weariness and trials; to work above all with purity of intention and detachment from self, keeping unceasingly before my eyes death and the account that I must give of time lost, talents unused, good omitted, and vain complacency in success, so fatal to the work of God.
All for Jesus, all through Mary, all after thy example, O Patriarch, Saint Joseph. Such shall be my watch-word in life and in death.
Amen.

Prayers to St. Joseph For Workers

Joseph, by the work of your hands
and the sweat of your brow,
you supported Jesus and Mary,
and had the Son of God as your fellow worker.

Teach me to work as you did,
with patience and perseverance, for God and
for those whom God has given me to support.
Teach me to see in my fellow workers
the Christ who desires to be in them,
that I may always be charitable and forbearing
towards all.

Grant me to look upon work
with the eyes of faith,
so that I shall recognize in it
my share in God’s own creative activity
and in Christ’s work of our redemption,
and so take pride in it.

When it is pleasant and productive,
remind me to give thanks to God for it.
And when it is burdensome,
teach me to offer it to God,
in reparation for my sins
and the sins of the world.

Novena to St. Joseph the Worker

Joseph, patron saint of workers,
blending skill with charity,
silent carpenter, we praise you!
Joining work with honesty,
you taught Christ with joy to labor,
sharing his nobility.

Joseph, close to Christ and Mary,
lived with them in poverty,
shared with them their home and labor,
worked with noble dignity.
May we seek God’s will as you did,
leader of his family!

Joseph, inspiration for workers,
man of faith and charity,
make us honest, humble, faithful,
strong with Christ’s true liberty,
Make our labor and our leisure
fruitful to eternity!

Prayer to Saint Joseph, Patron of Workers

Blessed St. Joseph, patron of all working people, thank you for the opportunity to build up God’s kingdom through my labors. Help me to be conscientious in my work so that I may give as full a measure as I have received.

May I do all things in a spirit of thankfulness and joy, ever mindful of the gifts I have received from God that enable me to perform these tasks. Permit me to work in peace, patience, and moderation, keeping in mind the account I must one day give of time lost, talents unused, good omitted, and vanity of success, so fatal to the work of God. Amen.

hands you gave your contribution to the work of the Creator, you earned your living, and you provided for the needs of the Holy Family. Intercede for all workers, in the difficulties of their daily lives especially for the unemployed, in their anxieties for tomorrow, so that through the guidance of God, the great Architect and Builder, they all may use their strength and talents to make visible God’s new creation, to offer a concrete service to society, and to earn wages worthy of their efforts. With confidence and trust we make this prayer thru Jesus.
Amen.

Saint Athanasius

Prayer by St. Athanasius

It is becoming for you, O Mary, to be mindful of us, as you stand near him who bestowed upon you all graces, for you are the mother of God and our Queen. Come to our aid for the sake of the King, the Lord God and Master who was born of you. For this reason, you are called “full of grace.”
Be mindful of us, most holy Virgin, and bestow on us gifts from the riches of your graces, O Virgin full of grace.

St. Athanasius Prayer

Almighty ever-living God,
who raised up the Bishop Saint Athanasius
as an outstanding champion of your Son’s divinity,
mercifully grant,
that, rejoicing in his teaching and his protection,
we may never cease to grow in knowledge and love of you.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Novena To Saint Athanaseus

Hail, O St. Athanasius! Model of virtue,
most brave defender of the Faith!
Hail, thou rock of the Patriarchs!
Sweet-voiced trumpet, admirable mind, most persuasive tongue,
axe that felled the forest of heresies
and burned them with the fire of the Holy Ghost,
most firm pillar and unshakeable tower.

O Holy Doctor of the Church,
thou armed the Mystical Body of Christ
with divine dogmas of the Catholic Church;
Thou didst keep the faith O glorious St. Athanasius,
and justly won a crown by thy labors.
In thy flesh, O blessed Patriarch,
Thou filled up the sufferings of Christ,
suffering many persecutions,
even from among those counted within the Church.

O God-bearing Saint,
with the staff of thy teachings
thou drove heretical wolves far from the one,
holy, catholic, and apostolic Church,
Thou didst encompass and defend her
with the fortifications of thy words
and presented her sound and safe to Christ.

Beseech God, therefore,
that by thy merits and intercession,
He would deliver from error,
perversion and all dangers,
both spiritual and temporal,
those who faithfully celebrate thine ever venerable memory.
In particular, we implore…

[State your intention(s) here…]

We ask this through Christ our Lord,
And the powerful intercession of St. Athanasius.

Amen.

Let us pray

O God, the rewarder of faithful souls,
grant that by our pious devotion
and commemoration of St. Athanasius,
and by the prayers of Thy same blessed confessor and bishop,
may we be rendered acceptable to Thy mercy
and receive the gifts of Thy grace.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

St. Athanasius,
Pray for us.

Your early acquaintance with holy monks during your childhood years must have done a lot to inspire you along the path of holiness. You soon followed in their footsteps and chose to devote your life to God.

Pray for me, that I may always seek ways to grow in holiness in my life. Pray that I may be eager to devote myself to God’s service at every opportunity.

Saint John of Avila

Almighty and eternal God,
who gave your holy Church blessed John of Avila as Doctor,
grant that what he taught when moved by the divine Spirit
may always stay firm in our hearts;

Good Jesus, Saint John of Avila was the spiritual director of Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint John of God, and other saints.  He used to say, “I pray God may open your eyes and let you see what hidden treasures he bestows on us in the trials from which the world thinks only to flee.”  I ask Saint John to intercede for my growth in holiness, that I may gain the maturity to discover the good that springs out of the suffering I cannot avoid.  O Lord, give me more companions on my journey who assist me as spiritual directors, sharing the deepest truths with me and guiding me to greater purity and piety.  Saint John of Avila, pray for me.
Amen.

Saint Damien de Veuster of Moloka’i

St. Damien of Molokai Novena Prayers

Thank you Lord Jesus for the powerful witness of love that you provided in St. Damien of Molokai. I pray that I will have the same love toward all I meet, especially those who are different than me.

St. Damien, you were a spiritual minister and leader to people with leprosy. Thus, you were not too proud to work with the most outcast members of society. Help me to remember those in my own life and culture who are seen as outsiders. Remind me to invite them into my world to make them feel welcome and respected.

Keep me from treating those who are different as unworthy of love and respect. Help me to remember that all people are equal in God’s eyes.

As the patron of lepers, I bring to you in my heart all those who suffer from terminal illnesses and all of those who feel outcast from society in some way. Please also pray for these intentions I hold in my heart:

(State your intentions here)

St. Damien, Pray for Us!

Saint Damien Prayer

Damien, brother on the journey, happy and generous missionary, who loved the Gospel more than your own life, who for love of Jesus left your family, your homeland, your security and your dreams.

Teach us to give our lives with joy like yours, to be in solidarity with the outcasts of our world, to celebrate and contemplate the Eucharist as the source of our own commitment.

Help us to love to the very end and, in the strength of the Spirit, to persevere in compassion for the poor and forgotten so that we might be good disciples of Jesus and Mary.

Amen

Collect Prayer

Father of mercy, who gave us in Saint Damien a shining witness of love for the poorest and most abandoned, grant that, by his intercession, as faithful witnesses of the heart of your Son Jesus, we too may be servants of the most needy and rejected. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Mother’s Day

The earliest history of Mother’s Day dates back to the ancient annual spring festival the Greeks dedicated to maternal goddesses. The Greeks used the occasion to honor Rhea, wife of Cronus and the mother of many deities of Greek mythology. Ancient Romans, too, celebrated a spring festival, called Hilaria dedicated to Cybele, a mother goddess. It may be noted that ceremonies in honour of Cybele began some 250 years before Christ was born.

The celebration made on the Ides of March by making offerings in the temple of Cybele lasted for three days and included parades, games and masquerades. The celebrations were notorious enough that followers of Cybele were banished from Rome. Early Christians celebrated a Mother’s Day of sorts during the festival on the fourth Sunday of Lent in honour of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Christ. In England the holiday was expanded to include all mothers. It was then called Mothering Sunday.

A Prayer in Gratitude for Our Mothers

Good and Gentle God, we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the women of theory who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life. You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings. Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return, not perfectly, but humanly. Give them the faithful support of husband, family and friends as they care for the physical and spiritual growth of their children. Give them joy and delight in their children to sustain them through the trials of motherhood. Most of all, give them the wisdom to turn to you for help when they need it most.

Mother’s Everywhere

May the blessing of the Divine
Be an especially bright benediction
Upon mothers everywhere
On your blessed day –
On Mother’s Day!

An Irish blessing

There is but one and only one,
Whose love will fail you never.
One who lives from sun to sun,
With constant fond endeavor.

There is but one and only one
On earth there is no other.
In heaven a noble work was done
When God gave us a Mother.

A Mother’s Love

There are times when only a mother’s love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a mother’s love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we’ve dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a mother’s faith
Can help us on life’s way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a mother’s heart and a mother’s faith
And a mother’s steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above.

A Mother’s Day Prayer

I said a Mother’s Day prayer for you
to thank the Lord above
for blessing me with a lifetime
of your tenderhearted love.
I thanked God for the caring
you’ve shown me through the years,
for the closeness we’ve enjoyed
in time of laughter and of tears.

And so, I thank you from the heart
for all you’ve done for me
and I bless the Lord for giving me
the best mother there could be!

To the Moms Who Are

To the Moms who are struggling, to those filled with incandescent joy.
To the Moms who are remembering children who have died, and pregnancies that miscarried.
To the Moms who decided other parents were the best choice for their babies, to the Moms who adopted those kids and loved them fierce.
To those experiencing frustration or desperation in infertility.
To those who knew they never wanted kids, and the ways they have contributed to our shared world.
To those who mothered colleagues, mentees, neighborhood kids, and anyone who needed it.
To those remembering Moms no longer with us.
To those moving forward from Moms who did not show love, or hurt those they should have cared for.
Today is a day to honor the unyielding love and care for others we call ‘Motherhood,’ wherever we have found it and in whatever ways we have found to cultivate it within ourselves.

A Mother’s Day Prayer to Honor and Bless Moms

Heavenly Father,

I speak this prayer to you now in gratitude and praise for the gift of mothers. My mother, those of my friends, relatives, those I’ll never know, all mothers. Thank you for the role they play in the family unit. Thank you for their teachings, their wisdom, their patience, and understanding. Thank you for the physical, emotional, and  they possess. I pray that you help mothers all across the world to be a blessing upon their children. Whether delivering affirmation or discipline, I pray that you help every word and action to be done in love. And I pray that children throughout the world would take time to honor their mothers, that you would show them how to uniquely do so.

I pray that these mothers also act as a blessing beyond their households, reaching into their extended families, communities, churches, schools. I pray that the impact of motherhood is revered throughout society and that these women are acknowledged for their everyday impact on the world. May you guide each of them into fulfilling their purpose here on Earth. Amen.

Dear God, Bless All Mothers…

In this intense nine months, when mothers-to-be are realizing that their life is about to change forever, bless them God, because they feel alternately elated and alarmed. Help each mother-in-waiting to understand that she has been carefully chosen, by both you and by her baby, to guide it through its early years on planet Earth. Let her know that she will never be alone in the process. Help her to remember that her baby is your own perfect creation, just as she, herself, is your

own perfect creation. Thank you God, for making each of your creations uniquely perfect in its own way. Amen.

Prayer for New Mothers

God our Creator, we pray:
for new mothers, coming to terms with new responsibility ;
for expectant mothers, wondering and waiting;
for those who are tired, stressed or depressed;
for those who struggle to balance the tasks of work and family;
for those who are unable to feed their children due to poverty;
for those whose children have physical, mental or emotional disabilities;
for those who have children they do not want;
for those who raise children on their own;
for those who have lost a child;
for those who care for the children of others;
for those whose children have left home;
and for those whose desire to be a mother has not been fulfilled.
Bless all mothers, that their love may be deep and tender,
and that they may lead their children to know and do what is good,
living not for themselves alone, but for God and for others.
Amen

A Mother’s Day Prayer

I thank you, Creator of us all, for my Mother.
I thank you that she gave me life and nurtured me all my years.
She gave me faith, helping me to know You
and to know Jesus and His ways.
She taught me how to love and how to sacrifice for others.
Bless her with the graces she richly deserves
and keep her in Your care.
Embrace her to let her feel precious in Your eyes today
and to know that I love her.
Give her strength and courage, compassion and peace.
Bless her this day with your Love.

A Prayer for Single Moms on Mother’s Day

Father God, we thank you for each and every woman you have blessed with the privilege of motherhood. We thank you that each single mother is a Godly steward of each of their children, and that they raise them in the ways of the Lord. Father, we pray and ask that You continue to give them grace to walk out being a single parent with kindness and generosity. We pray that each single mother has a relationship with You, and worships You in spirit and truth.

Help each of your precious daughters to remember that although they are parenting alone, You have not left them nor forsaken them. We thank You that You see each of them and love them. Lord, if they are weary, we pray and ask that You send them a Godly sister in Christ to hold up their arms in the battle, just as Aaron did for Moses. Lord, thank you that You care about every big or small thing that concerns them. Place a hedge of protection around every single mother and her children, Father. We thank you that You alone are their Provider. Where there is lack, Father, we pray that be it Your will You bring abundance. We pray and ask these things in your name, Amen.

Mother’s Day Prayer

(suitable as an opening prayer in a church service or meeting)

Lord, thank you for all mothers. For the new ones, who endure sleepless nights with infants in arms. For the busy ones, who juggle the pressures of home and family life. For the steadfast ones, who nurture and care for our special vulnerable children. For the patient ones, who always seek to forgive and engage with their pre-teens. For the persistent ones, who cleverly find new ways to connect with their mini-adults. For the mother aunts, who step in to cradle and care for nieces and nephews. For all grandmas, who love and support their precious grandchildren. For the foster mums that are called to gather and cover the fragile ones. For the Sunday mums who care for our children and lead them in faith. For the mums who give far beyond their own resources, who overcome disability to cherish and love. Thank you Lord for all our beautiful mothers. Help us to support them and keep them in our prayers. May you bless them now on this their special day. Amen.

A blessing and prayer tribute to all mothers

“Blessed be all mothers
Who have come into our lives

Your inspiration in us Made us
strive in every way
Especially to remember
Helping others makes our day.

Saint Leopold Mandic

Prayer and Novena

God, Almighty Father, you made Saint Leopold a rich source of your grace for all who had recourse to him. Through his intercession, may we live our lives in love, relying entirely on your will, and strong in the hope of your promises.

Glory be to the Father
God, you show your almighty power most clearly when you grant mercy and forgiveness to sinners. You made Saint Leopold an outstanding witness through his ministry in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Grant us the grace to celebrate the Sacrament joyfully, and so experience your great love.

Glory be to the Father
God our Father, through Christ your Son who died and rose to life, you redeemed us, and you gave us Saint Leopold as a fatherly presence to comfort and guide us in our trials. Pour into our hearts the certainty of your presence and help.

Glory be to the Father
God, source of communion for all your sons and daughters, you wanted Christ to be the only Shepherd of your Church. Glory be to the Father
God, you wanted Mary to be Mother of Christ and Mother of the Church, and you gave Saint Leopold a tender devotion to our Lady. May we know in our own lives the joy of her motherly protection and love.

Our Lady of Fatima

Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima -by Pope John Paul II

Mother of all individuals and peoples, you know all their sufferings and hopes. In your motherly heart you feel all the struggles between good and evil, between light and darkness, that convulse the world: accept the plea which we make in the Holy Spirit directly to your heart, and embrace with the love of the Mother and Handmaid of the Lord those who most await this embrace, and also those whose act of entrustment you too await in a particular way. Take under your motherly protection the whole human family, which with affectionate love we entrust to you, O Mother. May there dawn for everyone the time of peace and freedom, the time of truth, of justice and of hope.

Prayer Before The Rosary

Queen of the Holy Rosary, you have deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three shepherd children the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary. Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may be enriched with its fruits and obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners and of Russia, and the favor which I ask of you in this Rosary. (Here mention your request.) I ask it for the greater glory of God, for your own honor, and for the good of souls, especially for my own.
Amen.

Most Holy Virgin, who has deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three little shepherds the treasures of graces hidden in the recitation of the Rosary, inspire our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion, so that by meditating on the mysteries of our redemption that are recalled in it, we may gather the fruits and obtain the conversion of sinners, the conversion of Russia, and this favor that I so earnestly seek, request which I ask of you in this novena, for the greater glory of God, for your own honor, and for the good of all people.
Amen.

Pray 3 sets of: 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary, and 1 Glory Be

Act Of Entrustment To Mary

Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima, with renewed gratitude for your motherly presence we join in the voice of all generations that call you blessed. We celebrate in you the great works of God, who never tires of lowering himself in mercy over humanity, afflicted by evil and wounded by sin, to heal and to save it.

Accept with the benevolence of a mother this act of entrustment that we make in faith today, before this your image, beloved to us. We are certain that each one of us is precious in your eyes and that nothing in our hearts has estranged you. May we allow your sweet gaze to reach us and the perpetual warmth of your smile.

Guard our life with your embrace; bless and strengthen every desire for good; give new life and nourishment to faith; sustain and enlighten hope; awaken and animate charity; guide us all on the path to holiness.

Teach us your own special love for the little and the poor, for the excluded and the suffering, for sinners and the wounded of heart. Gather all people under you protection and give us all to your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus.

Amen.

Novena to Our Lady of Fatima Prayers

O Most Holy Virgin Mary, you came to Fatima to reveal the graces that come from praying the Holy Rosary to three little shepherd children. Inspire us with a sincere love of this devotion so that, like the shepherd children, it is not a burdensome task but a life-giving prayer. May our prayers and meditations on the mysteries of our redemption bring us closer to your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Like the children of Fatima, we want to bring God’s word to others. Give us the strength, O Lord, to overcome our doubts so that we may be messengers of the Gospel. We know that Jesus lives in our hearts and we receive Him in the Eucharist.

Lord Jesus, the miracles, prophecies and prayers that Your Mother brought to us at Fatima amazed the whole world. We are certain of her closeness to You. We ask through the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima that you graciously hear and answer our prayers.

Especially… (Mention your intentions here…)

Our Lady of Fatima, Pray for us!

Our Lady of the Rosary, Pray for us!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us!

Saint Matthias

A Prayer to St. Matthias the Apostle, for Grace

O Glorious Saint Matthias, in God’s design it fell upon you to take the place of the unfortunate Judas who betrayed his Master. You were selected by the twofold sign of the uprightness of your life and the call of the Holy Spirit.

Obtain for us the grace to practice the same uprightness of life and to be called by that same Spirit to wholehearted service of the Church. Then after a life of zeal and good works let us be ushered into your company in heaven to sing forever the praises of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Amen.

A Prayer to St. Matthias the Apostle, for the Church

O Almighty God, who into the place of Judas didst choose thy faithful servant Matthias to be of the number of the Twelve: Grant that thy Church, being delivered from false apostles, may always be ordered and guided by faithful and true pastors; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever

A Prayer to St. Matthias the Apostle, for Worthiness

Saint Matthias, pray that we may become worthy witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus in the way we live the eternal life we have right now.

Prayer For The Intercession Of Saint Matthias

Father,

you called Saint Matthias to share in the mission of the apostles.

By the help of his prayers

may we receive with joy the love you share with us

and be counted among those you have chosen.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

Saint Isidore the Farmer

Prayer to Saint Isidore the Farmer, Patron of Countrymen

Good Saint, we are told that your devotion to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was so great that you would rise before it was light in order to be able to attend Mass before beginning your work in the fields. Obtain for us, we pray you, some of that loving devotion to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. There it is that the fruits of our farm labor, bread and wine, are brought and offered to God by the priest. Then, in the consecration, Christ Himself, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, becomes present on our altars under the appearances of this same bread and wine. And in what was the altar bread, He comes to us to be the very food of our souls. If we deeply realize the value and beauty of Holy Mass, we will be very happy to attend as often as we possibly can.

Help us to understand that in the Mass we offer ourselves to God with Christ by the hands of the priest. There we can bring to God all that we do, and offer it to Him in union with His Holy Sacrifice. The oftener we do this now, the happier we shall be hereafter.

Good Saint Isidore, bless us

Prayer to St. Isidore (farmers)

O St. Isidore, patron saint of farmers, I come to you now asking your intercession on behalf of (name person) and all whose livelihood is based in farming.

I ask you to pray that their crops have sufficient water and minerals to grow to fruition and that they are abundant at harvest.

Please pray that their crops are protected from strong winds, flooding, hail, rust, and every blight of worm and insect.

St. Isidore, please pray that God in His infinite love and wisdom will bless their labors so that they may reap the rewards of work well done here on Earth and in Heaven.

Amen.

St Isidore the Farmer Novena

St. Isidore, you lived a humble life working the land.

You attended Holy Mass each morning, which jeopardized the employment that allowed your family to eat.

The Lord repaid your love by sending His angels to plow the fields while you were at Church.

Dear Isidore, ask Our Lord Jesus to place deep faith in our hearts and water it each day with your prayers that we may progress in holiness as you did.

Pray that as our heart grows in love and humility we may be a living sign of Jesus to those around us.

As a farmer who used his hands to bring forth nourishing food, please ask Jesus to bless us with a bountiful harvest.

Pray that our hands and bodies will remain strong that we may farm the land God has given us.

Ask Jesus to care for our gardens as he tends our hearts.

Pray that weeds will be kept far from our fields and likewise give us an aversion to sin.

Humbly we ask that you carry the petitions we hold in our heart to our most loving and generous Lord.

Amen.

Glory Be…

O glorious St. Margaret, you embarked on a life of penance and poverty after you repented of your sins. On controlling your appetite for food, you managed to free yourself from all temptations, including those of the flesh of which you were a victim for many years. Listen then to our petitions. May you bring our petitions to Jesus.

Saint Rita of Cascia

Novena Prayer To Saint Rita Of Cascia

O Holy Patroness of those in need, St. Rita, whose pleadings before thy Divine Lord are almost irresistible, who for thy lavishness in granting favors hast been called the Advocate of the HOPELESS and even of the IMPOSSIBLE; St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such compassionate love for the Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest, on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee, expecting, if not always relief, at least comfort; be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant; be lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many wonderful cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine own devotion, and for the consolation of those who trust in thee.  We promise, if our petition is granted, to glorify thee by making known thy favor, to bless and sing thy praises forever.  Relying then upon thy merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray thee grant that (here mention your request).
By the singular merits of thy childhood, obtain for us our request.
By thy perfect union with the Divine Will, obtain for us our request.
By thy heroic sufferings during thy married life, obtain for us our request.
By the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband, obtain for us our request.
By the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God, obtain for us our request.
By the severe penances and trice daily scourgings, obtain for us our request.
By the suffering caused by the wound thou didst receive from the thorn of thy Crucified Savior, obtain for us our request.
By the divine love which consumed thy heart, obtain for us our request.
By that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, on which alone thou dost exist for four years, obtain for us our request.
By the happiness with which thou didst part from thy trials to join thy Divine Spouse, obtain for us our request.
By the perfect example you gavest to people of every state of life, obtain for us our request.
Pray for us, O holy St. Rita, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray:
O God, Who in Thine infinite tenderness hast vouchsafed to regard the prayer of Thy servant, Blessed Rita, and dost grant to her supplication that which is impossible to human foresight, skill and efforts, in reward of her compassionate love and firm reliance on Thy promise, have pity on our adversity and succor us in our calamities, that the unbeliever may know Thou art the recompense of the humble, the defense of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.

(Share your request…)

Prayer to St. Gregory VII Pope and Confessor

O invincible defender of Holy Church’s freedom, Saint Gregory of great renown, by that firmness thou didst show in maintaining the Church’s rights against all her enemies, stretch forth from Heaven thy mighty arm, we beseech thee, to comfort her and defend her in the fearful battle she must ever wage with the powers of darkness. Do thou, in an especial manner, give strength in this dread conflict to the venerable Pontiff who has fallen heir not only to thy throne, but likewise to the fearlessness of thy mighty heart; obtain for him the joy of beholding his holy endeavors crowned by the triumph of the Church and the return of the lost sheep into the right path. Grant, finally, that all may understand how vain it is to strive against that faith which has always conquered and is destined always to conquer: “this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith.” This is the prayer that we raise to thee with one accord; and we are confident, that, after thou hast heard our prayers on earth, thou wilt one day call us to stand with thee in Heaven, before the eternal High Priest, Who with the Father and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth world without end.

I adore Thee, O Eternal Father and I thank Thee on the part of Thy beloved Daughter, Mary Magdalene, for all the graces by Thee granted her, and in particular for having chosen her as the resting-place of Thy Divine Being, in that manner, and as far as mortal creatures can become capable thereof and for having promised her to grant her whatsoever she would ask Thee, saying to her : “Bride of My Only-Begotten Word, ask of Me what thou wilt.”

Prayer By Saint Bede For Faith, Hope, And Charity

O COME to me, my only hope, O Lord my God. Come to me, true light, Father, almighty God. Come, light from light, both Word and Son of God, God almighty. Come Holy Spirit, concord of Father and Son, God almighty. Come one almighty God, Father and Son and Holy Spirit.

Teach faith, stir up hope, pour out love. The will is present with me (yet not from me, but from thee) to quit the world and the earth, and to seek the heavens. But this will is a feeble feather without thy help. Give wings of faith, that I might fly on high to thee.

Prayer By Saint Bede For Betterment

O GOD and King, by whose hand the frame of our measureless world is fitted together, through Christ I implore thee: of thy grace be merciful, for I am wretched. Give a watchful understanding, O King of kings, governor of all things; give, I pray, natural quickness, give a comely light of mind. May faith be right within me, fit to face false sects; above all, may there be timely amendment of habits. May I be loving, humble, truthful, wise with the moment; never speaking of a secret, ever chary of the tongue’s thunderbolt. Give a faithful companion, and a fast friend.

Memorial Day

“For those who have died on active service” from The Church of England

“For those who have died on active service
O God of truth and justice,
we hold before you those men and women
who have died in active service…”

An Old Soldier’s Prayer” by Lewis Millett

“I have fought when others feared to serve.
I have gone where others failed to go.
I’ve lost friends in war and strife,
Who valued Duty more than love of life….
I’ve seen challenged men become even bolder,
I’ve seen the Duty, Honor, Sacrifice of the Soldier.
Now I understand the meaning of our lives,
The loss of comrades not so very long ago.
So to you who have answered duties siren call,
May God bless you my son, may God bless you all.”

A Christian Memorial Day Prayer

Gracious God,
On this Memorial Day, we pray for those who courageously laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. May the examples of their sacrifice inspire in us the selfless love of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Bless the families of our fallen troops, and fill their homes and their lives with Your strength and peace.
In union with people of goodwill of every nation, embolden us to answer the call to work for peace and justice, and thus, seek an end to violence and conflict around the globe.
We ask this through your name.

A Prayer for Memorial Day (by Debbie McDaniel)

Dear God, We thank you for the freedom you have given to us, and for the price that was paid by Christ so that we could live free. We remember today. The cost of it all. The great sacrifice for freedom.

We thank you for the brave men and women who have fought, and continue to fight, so courageously for our nation. We ask for your covering and blessing over them and their families. We pray that you would be gracious and encircle them with your peace. We pray for your great favor and goodness to be evident in their lives.

Please be with all those who wear the uniform, who serve our communities and nation every single day. We ask that you provide your protection, that you would be their guiding force who leads the way, and their rear guard who keeps them safe from behind. We ask that you would draw them to yourself amidst the dangers they face in a dark world, for you are the Truth, you are the Way, you are the Light.

A Prayer for Military Families Who Have Lost Loved Ones (by Lisa Appelo)

O Lord, We weep with those who weep and mourn with those who mourn. Comfort these moms and dads, children and spouses as only You can. You have collected all their tears in a bottle. Help them feel Your strong presence, see Your tender hand all around them and hear Your voice directing them in these dark circumstances. Draw them daily to Your Word to process their pain and grieve with hope. Spur the body of Christ around them to be Your hands and feet and to meet their practical needs.

Thank you, Lord, that You are the defender of widows and father to the fatherless. Bind up their wounds and heal their broken hearts. You are good and You do good and we pray that even in their pain they will see Your goodness sustaining them through pain. Restore to them the joy of your salvation and sing over them a new song.
Amen.

A Prayer of Gratitude for Those Who Serve (by Sarah Frazer)

O God, we give you praise for these people who have allowed us to serve and worship You in freedom. Our veterans are a significant reason why we do not fear and we thank You for them.

Memorial Day Prayer

O Lord, we give you thanks for the American way of life that we enjoy today. Let us not forget that the rights and privileges we enjoy have blood on them and that every good gift was bought and paid for in human sacrifice. Today, we honor all who have gone before us and made the supreme sacrifice. We are ever grateful for those who are now serving our country in every part of this world as they are your instruments of peace and freedom. We pray for the families whose loved ones have given their last full measure of devotion — their very lives, for people who now have the freedom in their homeland. Lord God, on this Memorial Day, be thou our Guide and Wisdom to our President and government leaders as they lead this nation to create peace throughout our world and nation and community. We humbly ask to protect our nation from external attack and internal decay. Make us all aware, O God, of our responsibility that rests upon us to create peace in our own hearts, in our homes, and in our relationships with others. Lead us, inspire us, make us Your people to become a nation that truly is blessed by You.

We commend to your eternal care
all who have died in the service of others,
even as we lament the violence of war.
Comfort and sustain all those who mourn.
Heal the wounded body, mind, and spirit.
Bring justice, freedom, and dignity to all people
and bring an end to war throughout the earth
so that all may know your promised peace;
through Christ, the resurrection and the life.

Memorial Day Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

On this day of remembrance for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we consider how they have followed in the footsteps of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Please hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection.

We also remember the families of our troops. We ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we pray for your peace, provision, hope, and strength to fill their lives.

May the members of our armed forces be supplied with the courage to face each day and may they trust in the Lord’s mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.

Sovereign God and Lord of all nations, may we take time to reflect on the great blessings we share as a nation and as a people. Our blessings have come at a high cost to others. May we remember these sacrifices always with deep gratitude.

We ask that you would grant wisdom to the leaders of our armed forces. Guide and direct them in their decisions. May they be led by your will and your heart as they pursue our nation’s freedom. We continue to pray for peace in our world. Lord, let your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray.

Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.
Amen.

Prayer for the Sick

OWatch O Lord, with those

who cannot sleep or weep tonight.
Tend your sick ones.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
Amen.

Novena Prayer

O Lord our God, who by your Son Jesus Christ called your Apostles
and sent them forth to preach the Gospel to the nations:

We bless your holy name for your servant Augustine,
first Archbishop of Canterbury,
whose labors in propagating your Church
among the English people we commemorate today.

And we pray that all whom you call and send may do your will,
and bide your time, and see your glory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat

Saint Madeleine Sophie’s Daily Prayer

Sacred Heart of Jesus,

Give me a heart that is one with your own;

A humble heart that knows and loves its nothingness;

A gentle heart that holds and calms its own anxiety;

A loving heart that has compassion for the suffering of others;

A pure heart that recoils even at the appearance of evil;

A detached heart that longs for nothing other than the goodness of heaven;

A heart detached from self-love and embraced by the love of God,

Its attention focused on God, Its goodness its only treasure in time and in eternity.

Novena To Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat

Dear St. Madeleine Sophie Barat,
you Consecrated yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and spent your life opening Schools
of the Sacred Heart and educating girls.
You were quoted as saying,
“For the sake of one child,
I would have founded the Society”.
Your approach to children was based in gentleness as you advised,
“Soften your reprimands with kind words;
encourage and reward them.
That is, in short, our way of educating”.
Please pray St. Madeleine Sophie
that as parents and teachers
we may have a softness and gentleness towards children as you did.
Please pray that the Sacred Heart of Jesus
will pour Divine Love and Patience into our hearts.
Please take our intentions before the Sacred Heart of Jesus
as we know your prayers will be warmly received.
Amen.

Saint Joan of Arc

Novena In Honor of Saint Joan of Arc

St. Joan of Arc,

Filled with compassion,

For those who invoke you,

Filled with love for those who suffer,

Heavily laden with the weight of my troubles,

I kneel at your feet and humbly beg you,

To take my present need,

Under your special protection.

(Mention your request here).

Grant to recommend it,

To the Blessed Virgin Mary,

And lay it before the throne of Jesus.

Cease not to intercede for me,

Until my request is granted.

Above all, obtain for me,

The grace to one day,

Meet God face to face,

And with you and Mary,

And all the angels and saints,

Praise Him through all eternity.

O most powerful Saint Joan,

Do not let me lose my soul,

But obtain for me the grace

Of winning my way to heaven,

Forever and ever. Amen.

Our Father…

Hail Mary….

Glory Be…

Amen!

Prayer to St. Joan of Arc In Times of Trouble

St Joan of Arc, give me strength:
In this, my time of need, I beg thee to come to my aid.
I humbly ask thee to help me bear my trials with honour,
As I remember you in your earthly agonies.

Blessed Joan, duty bound to God, give me courage:
You who left family and friends to enter into God’s service,
Devout and valiant to uphold righteousness to the end,
While being insulted and harmed by your enemies.

Holy Joan, daughter of God, give me fortitude:
Help me to prevail in life and death over evil,
While bearing my injuries with the dignity you showed
When wounded in the breast, head, thigh, and heel.

Pious Joan, help me to be fearless:
Abandoned by the king you yourself had crowned,
Captured and sold to the highest bidder,
You put your trust in the King of Heaven to deliver you.

Venerable Joan, help me to be unwavering in my faith:
Beaten, bruised, questioned and accused,
You were denied that which you loved most:
Communion, confession, mass and public prayer.

Heroic Joan, help me to uphold justice:
Imprisoned, neglected, threatened and condemned,
Sentenced to die as a heretic, the most cruelest death,
To die by the fire and be raised up in heaven!

Glorious Virgin, please intercede for me:
(Share your request…)
Hear this petition and my heartfelt plea.
Pray for me in this, my time of need,
For I believe God will deny you nothing.

Amen.

Prayer to Saint Joan of Arc
In the face of your enemies,
in the face of harassment, ridicule, and doubt, you held firm in your faith.
Even in your abandonment, alone and without friends, you held firm in your faith.
Even as you faced your own mortality, you held firm in your faith.
I pray that I may be as bold
in my beliefs as you, St. Joan.
I ask that you ride alongside me
in my own battles.
Help me be mindful that what is
worthwhile can be won when I persist.
Help me hold firm in my faith.
Help me believe in my ability
to act well and wisely.

Amen.

Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Collect Prayer

Almighty ever-living God, who, while the Blessed Virgin Mary was carrying your Son in her womb, inspired her to visit Elizabeth, grant us, we pray, that, faithful to the promptings of the Spirit, we may magnify your greatness with the Virgin Mary at all times. Father in heaven, by whose grace the virgin mother of your incarnate Son was blessed in bearing him, but still more blessed in keeping your word: Grant us who honor the exaltation of her lowliness to follow the example of her devotion to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
