Ephesians 5. 31-32 Wives and Husbands
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” In any case, each one of you should love his wife as himself, and the wife should respect her husband.
Prayer for Married Couples
Dear Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thank You for the profound gift of the Sacrament of Marriage. Thank You for the magnificent gift of my spouse whom Your perfect providence planned for me from all eternity. May I always treat him (her) as royalty, with all the perfect honor, respect, and dignity he (she) deserves. Help me to be selfless in my marriage, to pour everything out for my spouse at all times, holding nothing back, expecting nothing in return, but recognizing and being grateful for all he (she) pours out for me and our family every day, and it is much! Please strengthen and protect our marriage and all marriages. Help us to pray together daily. May we trust You completely in every way, as You deserve. Please make our marriage fruitful and open to Your most perfect will in the privilege of co-creating and nurturing life. Help us to build a strong, secure, loving, faith-filled family, the domestic church. Dear Most Blessed Virgin Mary, we confidently entrust our marriage to your care. Keep our family always under your mantle. We have complete trust in You, Lord Jesus, that You are always with us, and are constantly seeing to the very best for us, bringing a tremendous good out of everything, including the crosses you have permitted in our lives. Dear (spouse’s name): You and I are one. I promise I will always love you, and always be true to you. I will never abandon you. I will lay down my life for you. With God and you in my life I have everything. Thank You, Jesus. You are the ultimate “Pourer.” We love you.
Prayer for a Good Husband or Wife
O Jesus, lover of the young, the dearest Friend I have, in all confidence I open my heart to You to beg Your light and assistance in the important task of planning my future. Give me the light of Your grace, that I may decide wisely concerning the person who is to be my partner through life. Dearest Jesus, send me such a one whom in Your divine wisdom You judge best suited to be united with me in marriage. May her/his character reflect some of the traits of Your own Sacred Heart. May s/he be upright, loyal, pure, sincere and noble, so that with united efforts and with pure and unselfish love we both may strive to perfect ourselves in soul and body, as well as the children it may please You to entrust to our care. Bless our friendship before marriage, that sin may have no part in it. May our mutual love bind us so closely, that our future home may ever be most like Your own at Nazareth.
O Mary Immaculate, sweet Mother of the young, to your special care I entrust the decision I am to make as to my future wife/husband. You are my guiding Star! Direct me to the person with whom I can best cooperate in doing God’s Holy Will, with whom I can live in peace, love and harmony in this life, and attain to eternal joys in the next.
Amen.
St. Anne Novena
O glorious Saint Anne, you are filled with compassion for those who invoke you, and with love for those who suffer. Heavily burdened with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take the present intention, which I recommend to you in your special care. (Insert petition)
Please recommend it to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and place it before the throne of Jesus, so that he may bring it to a happy issue. Continue to intercede for me until my request is granted. But above all obtain for me the grace to one day to see my God face to face, and with you and Mary and all the saints to praise and bless him for all eternity. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…
Saint Anne, help me now and at the hour of my death! Good Saint Anne, intercede for me!

A Prayer for Couples
Dear God,
Please make our relationship a great and holy adventure.
May our joining be a sacred space.
May the two of us find rest here, a heaven for our souls.
Remove from us any temptation to judge one another or to direct one another.
We surrender to You our conflicts and our burdens.
We know You are our Answer and our rock.
Help us to not forget.
Bring us together in heart and mind as well as body.
Remove from us the temptation to criticize or be cruel.
May we not be tempted by fantasies and projections, but guide us in the ways of holiness.
Save us from darkness.
May this relationship be a burst of light.
May it be a fount of love and wisdom for us, for our family, for our community, for our world.
May this bond be a channel for Your love and healing, a vehicle of Your grace and power.
As lessons come and challenges grow, let us not be tempted to forsake each other.
Let us always remember that in each other we have the most beautiful woman, the most
beautiful man, the strongest one, the sacred one in whose arms we are repaired.
May we remain young in this relationship.
May we grow wise in this relationship.
Bring us what You desire for us, and show us how You would have us be.
Thank you, dear God, You who are the cement between us.
Thank You for this love.

Teach us to love
Father, you called us to found this family together.
Give us the grace to animate it with your love:
may our family always comfort those who live in it
and welcome those who enter it.
Teach us to make progress in your sight
through our love for each other,
to do your will all the days of our life,
to submit our plans to you, to ask your help,
to offer you our joys and sorrows,
and to lead to you the children you give us.
Lord, you are Love; we thank you for our love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for spousal unity
O God, by your power you have made everything
out of nothing.
In the beginning you created the universe
and made us in your own likeness.
You gave man the constant help of woman
so that man and woman should no longer be two,
but one flesh, and you teach us that what you have
united may never be divided.
Lord Jesus, look with love upon us
in our life together as husband and wife.
We ask your blessing to live with each other
in peace and harmony.
May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses
and grow from each other’s strengths.
Help us to forgive one another’s failings
and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness
and the spirit of placing the wellbeing
of one another ahead of self.
May the love that brought us together grow
and mature with each passing year.
Bring us both ever closer to you
through our love for each other.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Gratitude and trust
We thank you, O God,
for the love you have implanted in our hearts.
May it always inspire us to be kind in our words,
considerate of feelings,
and concerned for each other’s needs and wishes.
Help us to be understanding and forgiving
of our human imperfection.
Increase our faith and trust in you
and may Your Prudence guide our life and love.
Bless our marriage, O God, with peace and happiness,
and make our love fruitful for your glory and our joy,
both here and in eternity.
