Prayers for the Feast of St. Odilo of Cluny
Prayer for the Eternal Rest
Eternal rest grant upon them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
A Prayer for the Forgotten Dead
O merciful God, take pity on the souls who have no particular friends and intercessors to recommend them to you, who either through negligence of those who are alive or through length of time, are forgotten by all. Spare them, O Lord, and remember your own when others forget to appeal to your mercy. Let not the souls you have created be parted from you, their Creator. Amen.
For Mercy and Peace
O God, who raised St. Odilo to be a shepherd of peace and a father to the poor,
grant that through his example we may seek reconciliation over conflict,
mercy over hardness of heart,
and charity over selfishness.
Through his intercession, strengthen our love for the living and the dead,
that we may one day rejoice together in your eternal light.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
For Fidelity and Compassion
Lord Jesus Christ,
you filled St. Odilo with zeal for prayer and compassion for all who suffered.
Grant us the grace to imitate his generosity,
to comfort the afflicted,
to pray for souls in need of your mercy,
and to persevere faithfully in every good work.
May his example guide us ever closer to you,
who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
