Who He Was
St. Cajetan (1480–1547) was an Italian priest, lawyer, and reformer who worked to renew the Church during a time of corruption and spiritual decline. He co-founded the Theatines, an order dedicated to poverty, prayer, and trusting completely in God.
He refused to ask for money, believing that God would provide what his community needed — and miraculously, God always did.
Why He Is Important
- Helper of the Poor: He cared for the sick, the homeless, and victims of war.
- Reformer: He worked to renew the clergy by founding an order focused on holiness and service.
- Model of Trust in Providence: He lived without relying on wealth, trusting God for everything.
