Glorious Martyr, Oliver, who willingly
gave your life for your faith,
help us also to be strong in faith.
May we be loyal like you
to the See of Peter.

may all hatred and bitterness
be banished from the hearts
of Irish men and women.

in our hearts,
as it did in your heart,
even at the moment of your death.
Pray for us and for Ireland. Amen.

NOVENA TO SAINT OLIVER PLUNKETT

Most Holy St Oliver, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, our Church honours your sacrifice and invokes your help in seeking God’s almighty power.

St Oliver, inspire our Church and Pope. Guide them in new ways to enlighten and draw the vulnerable, lost and non-believers to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Help all souls in our troubled world to find everlasting faith in the Risen Christ.

Saint Thomas

Prayer to St. Thomas the Apostle

O St. Thomas, the Apostle of India, Father of our faith, you spread the light of Christ in the hearts of the people of India. You humbly confessed “My Lord and My God” and sacrificed your life for love of him. We pray to you to strengthen us with love and faith in Jesus Christ so that we may dedicate ourselves totally to the cause of the kingdom of justice, peace and love. We pray that through your intercession we may be protected from all trials, dangers and temptations and be strengthened in the love of the Triune God, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer to St. Thomas the Apostle, for Spending Ourselves in His Service

O Glorious St. Thomas, your grief for Jesus was such that it would not let you believe he had risen unless you actually saw him and touched his wounds. But your love for Jesus was equally great and it led you to give up your life for him. Pray for us that we may grieve for our sins which were the cause of Christ’s sufferings. Help us to spend ourselves in his service and so earn the title of “blessed” which Jesus applied to those who would believe in him without seeing him. Amen.

Prayer to St. Thomas the Apostle, for Faith

Almighty and ever living God, who didst strengthen thine apostle Thomas with sure and certain faith in thy Son’s resurrection: Grant us so perfectly and without doubt to believe in Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God, that our faith may never be found wanting in thy sight; through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Prayer to St. Thomas the Apostle, for Architects, Builders and Carpenters

Dear St. Thomas, you were once slow in believing that Christ had gloriously risen; but later, because you had seen him, you exclaimed: “My Lord and my God!” According to an ancient story, you rendered most powerful assistance for constructing a church in a place where pagan priests opposed it. Please bless architects, builds and carpenters that through them the Lord may be honored. Amen.

Prayer to St. Thomas the Apostle, Pray for Me

Lord Jesus, St. Thomas doubted Your resurrection until he touched Your wounds. After Pentecost, You called him to become a missionary in India, but he doubted again and said no. He changed his mind only after being taken into slavery by a merchant who happened to be going to India. Once he was cured of his doubt, You freed him and he began the work You had called him to do. As the patron saint against doubt, I ask him to pray for me when I question the direction in which You are leading me. Forgive me for mistrusting You, Lord, and help me to grow from the experience. Saint Thomas, pray for me. Amen.

Saint Anthony Zaccaria

PRAYER TO SAINT ANTHONY MARY ZACCARIA

Saint Anthony Zaccaria,
helper of the poor and the sick,
you who devoted your life to our spiritual welfare,
listen to my humble and hopeful prayer.
Continue your work as doctor and priest
by obtaining from God
healing from my physical and moral sickness,
so that free from all evil and sin,
I may love the LORD with joy,
fulfill with fidelity my duties,
work generously for the good of my brothers and sisters,
and for my sanctification.

Amen.

Collect Prayer

Grant, O Lord, that in the spirit of the Apostle Paul
we may pursue the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ,
for, having learned it,
Saint Anthony Zaccaria constantly preached
Your saving word in the Church.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer to Saint Anthony Zaccaria

O child of the Apostle Paul, follower in his steps, preacher of the Word he proclaimed so completely with his very life, you who desired so to bear the fruit of love in patience, to share in the hardships of the apostles as well as in their glory, and led your fellow ordained zealously to desire the same – pray there shall be reform in this day among our priests and among the people of God, that all will so zealously follow the teaching and way of the Apostle, which is, of course, the way of Christ: to die, to lay down our lives, to suffer indignation and pray for our enemies, all the will calling souls to the Lord’s undying love, to His saving blood. Amen.

July 6th

Saint Maria Goretti

Maria Teresa Goretti is an Italian virgin-martyr of the Catholic Church, and one of the youngest saints to be canonized. She was born to a farming family. Her father died when she was nine, and the family had to share a house with another family, the Serenellis. One afternoon, Alessandro, the Serenellis’ twenty-year-old son, made sexual advances to her. When she refused to submit to him, he stabbed her fourteen times. Maria was found bleeding to death and rushed to the hospital. She survived for 20 hours in the hospital, undergoing surgery without anesthesia and died at the age of 11. Her last words were, “I forgive Alessandro Serenelli … and I want him with me in heaven forever.” Unrepentant, Alessandro was convicted, and sentenced to 30 years in prison. In his eleventh year of imprisonment, he had a vision of Maria. He saw a garden. where a young girl, dressed in white, was gathering lilies. She smiled, and came near him, and encouraged him to accept an armful of the lilies. As he accepted them, each lily transformed into a still white flame. Maria then disappeared. From that moment, he was a completely changed. He repented of his crime and lived a reformed life. After 27 years, he was released from prison and visited her mother to beg forgiveness, which she granted. He later became a lay brother in a Capuchin monastery and died in 1970.
She was beatified in 1947 and canonized in 1950 by Pope Pius XII.
She is especially venerated in the Congregation of the Passion (Passionists).

Prayer

O God, author of innocence and lover of chastity, who bestowed the grace of martyrdom on your handmaid, the Virgin Saint Maria Goretti, in her youth, grant, we pray, through her intercession, that, as you gave her a crown for her steadfastness, so we, too, may be firm in obeying your commandments.

Prayer to St. Maria Goretti

Oh Saint Maria Goretti who, strengthened by God’s Grace, did not hesitate even at the age of twelve to shed your blood and sacrifice life itself to defend your virginal purity, look graciously on the unhappy human race which has strayed far from the path of eternal salvation.
Teach us all, and especially youth, with what courage and promptitude we should flee for the love of Jesus anything that could offend Him or stain our souls with sin.
Obtain for us from our Lord victory in temptation, comfort in the sorrows of life, and the grace which we earnestly beg of thee (pause, insert special intention here), and may we one day enjoy with thee the imperishable glory of Heaven. Amen.
Our Father … Hail Mary … Glory be … St. Maria Goretti, pray for us!

Saint Maria Goretti

Heroic and angelic Saint Maria
Goretti, we kneel before you to
honor your persevering fortitude and
to beg your gracious aid. Teach us
a deep love for the precepts of our
Holy Church; help us to see in them
the very voice of our Father in Heaven.
May we preserve without stain
our white baptismal robe of
innocence. May we who have lost
this innocence kneel humbly in Holy
Penance, and with the absolution of
the priest, may the torrent of
Christ’s precious Blood flow into our
souls and give us a new courage to
carry the burning light of God’s love
through the dangerous highways of
this life until Christ our king shall call
us to the courts of Heaven. Amen.

Prayer to St. Maria Goretti, the Patroness of Abused Children

Dear God, we ask you to help all those who suffer from abuse. Help them find healing and peace in their life. May Maria Goretti who was strengthened by Your Grace join with us in prayer for healing of all victims of abuse, particularly those abused as children or young adults. Grant us your Love that we might reach out to them in Your Name with hope in times of trial. As Maria prayed for her attacker, grant us the grace to pray for the true conversion of all involved with the abuse, that they might seek Your Mercy through prayer and penance. Loving God, pour into our hearts and lives your healing Spirit, that the sacredness of every human person might be respected and protected as the precious image of God. Help us to live in the peace which Maria Goretti had found in Christ and in the love of his mother Mary.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Novena: St Maria Goretti

Day 1

O St. Maria Goretti, beautiful model of purity, you defended your virginity unto your death.
Even at the age of 11, you held dear to your heart what is dear to our Lord’s heart, your purity. Pray for me that I may do the same, especially when I am tempted.
Please pray that God will give me the strength to avoid sin and say, “yes” to a life which will lead to eternity in Heaven with you and our Lord.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 2

O St. Maria Goretti, beautiful model of love, your love for God was so clear in how you cared for your family during such hardships and in how you loved your enemies — even while you were dying.
Even at the age of 11, you understood what it meant to love the Lord and to love your neighbour as yourself. Pray for me, that I may be able to do the same.
Please pray that I will truly be able to serve my family joyfully, and others who need my help and love. And most of all, pray that our Lord will come first in my heart.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 3

O St. Maria Goretti, a beautiful model of forgiveness, pray for me.
Even at the age of 11, you did not withhold forgiveness from your attacker. You didn’t wish him unwell. On the contrary, you wanted Heaven for him. You loved him in that way. Pray for me, that I, too, will be able to love my enemies like you did. Pray that I will want Heaven for them.
Please pray that it will become easier and easier to forgive those who have hurt me and those who hurt others. Please pray for my own healing from past hurts so that I can move forward and offer forgiveness.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 4

O St. Maria Goretti, beautiful model of chastity, you guarded your virginity with such fervour.
Even at the age of 11, you knew the value of the virtue of chastity. Please pray that I will become better at practising chastity in my own life.
Pray that I will learn to live a life in which desire is subservient to reason. Please pray that I will be able to love as Jesus does: selflessly.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 5

O St. Maria Goretti, a beautiful model of mercy, pray for me. God’s mercy is the only hope for mankind. I know we are called to imitate our Father’s mercy to those around us, but it is hard, and I often fail.
But you, even at the age of 11, were strong and courageous enough to offer mercy to your attacker, the one who hurt you the very most.
Please pray that I will be able to do the same to those who hurt me. Please pray that I will not consider their unworthiness but that I will recall our Lord’s merciful acts for me, as you did.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 6

O St. Maria Goretti, beautiful model of living a holy, everyday life, pray for me.
I often feel as though my life must be extraordinary if I am to be a saint but you show me another way. You show me that I can be a saint if I love our Lord with all my heart and if I serve my family and put them before myself.
Please pray that I may be selfless as you were and that I can learn to deny my own desires so that I can fulfil our Lord’s will.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 7

O St. Maria Goretti, beautiful model of Christian suffering, pray for me.
You carried your cross so courageously while you suffered through surgery without anesthetic. You thirsted and were not able to be given water, and you accepted that cross because you loved our Lord. Pray for me, St. Maria Goretti, that I will become better at carrying my cross.
Pray that I will not complain about my cross and that I will remember to offer it up to our Lord, for I know that He does not waste any ounce of suffering given to Him.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 8

O St. Maria Goretti, patron of youth, please pray for the children in my life and the youth across the world. Please pray that their faith may be as strong as yours was when you were 11 years old.
Pray that I may do what I can to support children in their faith, and to encourage them to love our Lord, to put Him first in their lives, and to follow His commandments.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Day 9

O St. Maria Goretti, patron of victims of rape, please pray for all those whose dignity has been attacked. Pray for their healing, for comfort and for peace for them.
Please pray that we, as a society, may be able to better protect those who are survivors of sexual assault. And please pray for justice for their attackers, but most of all, for their contrition and conversion.
Please also pray for (Mention your intentions…) but may God’s will be done. Amen.

Saint Augustine Zhao Rong and Companions

Prayer to Saint Augustine Zhao Rong and Companions

O righteous band of martyrs united by faith in Christ and His Church in a nation of religious oppression: children and grandparents, workers and teachers, lay and ordained, native and foreign-born, all as one as you gave your lives, led by your convictions.

Pray the Word of the Lord comes to a land so cold to conversion, to the love and worship of Jesus, all men’s Saviour. Pray the Holy Spirit fall like purging and redeeming fire upon every soul in the country where you so honourably died; pray His power spreads and bring renewal upon the face of all the earth. Amen.

All-powerful, ever-living God,
turn our weakness into strength.
As you gave Augustine Zhao Rong and the martyrs of China

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen

O God, who in your wonderful providence have strengthened your Church through the confession of the Martyrs Saint Augustine Zhao and companions, grant that your people, faithful to the mission entrusted to it, may enjoy ever greater freedom and witness to the truth before the world. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the HOly Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Saint Veronica Giuliani

Saint Veronica Giuliani was one of the rare saints who had received the stigmata.
Her father wanted her to marry, but she convinced him to allow her to become a nun. At the age of 17, Saint Veronica Giuliani entered the convent of the Capuchin nuns at Citta di Castello in Umbria. In her first years in the monastery, she worked in the kitchen, infirmary, sacristy, and also served as portress. At the age of 34, she was made novice mistress. When she was 37, she received the stigmata, and later the Crown of Thorns was impressed on her head amid untold sufferings. She also experienced a mystical espousal, as she was given a mystical ring by Our Lord’s own hand. Church authorities in Rome wanted to determine whether she was an imposter, a person deluded by the devil, or a person favored by God and so conducted an investigation. Saint Veronica Giuliani was deposed from her office as novice mistress, and even imprisoned in a remote cell. Finally, she was even deprived of Holy Communion and was permitted to attend holy Mass only on Sundays and holy days near the door of the church. Later, the test had proved the admirable manifestations to be the work of God and eventually restored her as novice mistress. In 1716, she was elected abbess of the convent.
She was beatified by Pope Pius VII on 17 June 1804 and was canonized by Pope Gregory XVI on 26 May 1839.

A Prayer for the Intercession of Saint Veronica Giuliani

Father of Love, Who in Saint Veronica, who was conformed to Your Son, You have given us a marvelous example of patience and of ardent charity. Give to us, through her powerful intercession, to discover the sweetness found in the Cross and the grace of confidence as we implore; (here mention your intention) Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
St. Veronica Giuliani, Pray for us.

St. Veronica Giuliani Novena

O God, who declare that You abide in hearts that are pure, grant that through the intercession of the Virgin blessed Veronica we may be so fashioned by Your grace, that we become a dwelling pleasing to You.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen

(Mention your request here…)

St.Veronica Giuliani, pray for us
Say 1: Our Father… Say 1: Hail Mary… Say 1: Glory Be…

Prayer of St. Veronica Giuliani

“My God, I ask You for nothing other than the salvation of poor sinners.
Convert them all to You, all of them to You.
Set me as a go-between between You and sinners.
Let torments come.
Love will endure everything.
Love has conquered, and Love Himself has been conquered.
For the soul feels Him inside her in a manner I cannot describe.”

Prayer to Saint Veronica Giuliani

Saint Veronica Giuliani,
The stigmata you received
and the subsequent denial of your duties
as novice mistress in your abbess
didn’t make you bitter
but instead strengthened your faith in God,
and your position was reinstated.
May we, with your intercessions
show this same dedication,
even if our stigmata and sign of Jesus’ Cross
is only visible to us on the inside.

Amen.

St Veronica Giuliani, pray for us!
St Veronica Giuliani, pray for us!
St Veronica Giuliani, pray for us!

PRAYER:

Almighty God, You made St. Veronica glorious by the wounds of the Passion of Your Son. Through her example and prayers enable us to become like Christ, humbly embracing the Cross, so that we may rejoice in the revelation of His glory. Amen.

Saint Benedict

St. Benedict (or) Saint Benedict of Nursia is the founder of the Benedictine monastery. Benedict’s main achievement is his “Rule of Saint Benedict” which contains a set of rules for his monks to follow. The Rule that he established became the norm for monastic living throughout Europe. Benedict left Rome, gave up his inheritance and lived in a small village with his nurse. When God called him beyond this quiet life to an even deeper solitude, he went to the mountains of Subiaco and lived as a hermit under the direction of another hermit, Romanus. One day, during his time living in a cave above a lake as a hermit, the Devil presented Benedict’s imagination with a beautiful, tempting woman.
Benedict resisted by rolling his body into a thorn bush until it was covered in scrapes. It is said that through these body wounds, he cured the wounds of his soul. After years of prayer, word of his holiness brought nearby monks to ask for his leadership. The monks attempted to poison Benedict’s drink, but when he prayed a blessing over the cup – it shattered. So Benedict was on his own again — but not for long. The next set of followers were more sincere and he set up twelve monasteries in Subiaco where monks lived in separate communities of twelve.
St. Benedict was canonized in 1220 in Rome by Pope Honorius III.
He was named patron protector of Europe by Pope Paul VI in 1964. In 1980, Pope John Paul II declared him co-patron of Europe, together with Cyril and Methodius.

PRAYER OF SAINT BENEDICT

O Lord, I place myself in your hands and dedicate myself to you. I pledge myself to do your will in all things: To love the Lord God with all my heart, all my soul, all my strength.
Not to kill. Not to steal. Not to covet. Not to bear false witness. To honor all persons. Not to do to another what I would not wish done to myself. To chastise the body. Not to seek after pleasures. To love fasting. To relieve the poor. To clothe the naked. To visit the sick. To bury the dead. To help in trouble. To console the sorrowing. To hold myself aloof from worldly ways. To prefer nothing to the love of Christ.
Not to give way to anger. Not to foster a desire for revenge. Not to entertain deceit in the heart. Not to make a false peace. Not to forsake charity. Not to swear, lest I swear falsely. To speak the truth with heart and tongue. Not to return evil for evil. To do no injury: yea, even to bear patiently any injury done to me. To love my enemies. Not to curse those who curse me, but rather to bless them. To bear persecution for justice’s sake.
Not to be proud. Not to be given to intoxicating drink. Not to be an over-eater. Not to be lazy. Not to be slothful. Not to be a murmurer. Not to be a detractor. To put my trust in God.
To refer the good I see in myself to God. To refer any evil in myself to myself. To fear the Day of Judgment. To be in dread of hell. To desire eternal life with spiritual longing. To keep death before my eyes daily. To keep constant watch over my actions. To remember that God sees me everywhere. To call upon Christ for defense against evil thoughts that arises in my heart.
To guard my tongue against wicked speech. To avoid much speaking. To avoid idle talk. To read only what is good to read. To look at only what is good to see. To pray often. To ask forgiveness daily for my sins, and to seek ways to amend my life. To obey my superiors in all things rightful. Not to desire to be thought holy, but to seek holiness.
To fulfill the commandments of God by good works. To love chastity. To hate no one. Not to be jealous or envious of anyone. Not to love strife. Not to love pride. To honor the aged. To pray for my enemies. To make peace after a quarrel, before the setting of the sun. Never to despair of your mercy, O God of Mercy. Amen.

Novena Prayer to St. Benedict

O glorious St. Benedict, sublime model of all virtues, pure vessel of God’s grace! Behold me, humbly kneeling at thy feet. I implore thy loving heart to pray for me before the throne of God. To thee I have recourse in all the dangers which daily surround me. Shield me against my enemies, inspire me to imitate thee in all things. May thy blessing be with me always, so that I may shun whatever God forbids and avoid the occasions of sin.
Graciously obtain for me from God those favors and graces of which I stand so much in need, in the trials, miseries and afflictions of life. Thy heart was always so full of love, compassion, and mercy towards those who were afflicted or troubled in any way. Thou didst never dismiss without consolation and assistance any one who had re-course to thee. I therefore invoke thy powerful intercession, in the confident hope that thou wilt hear my prayers and obtain for me the special grace and favor I so earnestly implore (mention it), if it be for the greater glory of God and the welfare of my soul.
Help me, O great St. Benedict, to live and die as a faithful child of God, to be ever submissive to His holy will, and to attain the eternal happiness of heaven. Amen.

Prayer to St. Benedict for a Happy Death

O holy Father, St. Benedict, blessed by God both in grace and in name, who, while standing in prayer, with hands raised to heaven, didst most happily yield thy angelic spirit into the hands of thy Creator, and hast promised zealously to defend against all the snares of the enemy in the last struggle of death, those who shall daily remind thee of thy glorious departure and heavenly joys; protect me, I beseech thee, O glorious Father, this day and every day, by thy holy blessings, that I may never be separated from our dear Lord, from the society of thyself, and of all the blessed. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
St. Benedict himself revealed to St. Gertrude – also one of the greatest saints in the history of the Catholic Church, and herself a Benedictine nun – that “whoever reminds me of the extraordinary privilege with which God deigned to glorify my last moments, shall experience my particular assistance in his final combat. I will be a faithful protector against the assaults of the enemy. Fortified by my presence, he will escape the snares of the evil one and safely attain eternal happiness.”

Short Prayer to St. Benedict

Admirable Saint and Doctor of Humility, you practiced what you taught, assiduously praying for God’s glory and lovingly fulfilling all work for God and the benefit of all human beings. You know the many physical dangers that surround us today often caused or occasioned by human inventions. Guard us against poisoning of the body as well as of mind and soul, and thus be truly a “Blessed” one for us. Amen.

Prayer in Honor of Saint Benedict

Dear God, we praise and thank You for Who You are: The Creator and Master of the Universe, and our Father who loves us and has sent Your Son Jesus to save us from our sins. Dear Father, You provided your holy monk, Benedict, as a leader and master in the spiritual life for a countless number of followers. Filled as he was with the spirit of all the just, You flooded him with the splendor of Your light. In the intense radiance of this light his mind was freed of hindrance, and he was able to discern how incomplete all things are here below. Because of this the entire monastic company in every part of the world sings out its joy, and the Virtues on high, with all the angels, continuously praise Your glory in song. Stir up in your Church, O Lord, the spirit that animated our Father Benedict. Fill us again with Your Holy Spirit, in order that we may learn to love what he loved and practice what he taught. As You filled Saint Benedict with the spirit of all the righteous, grant us, your servants, who celebrate his life and all the good You have accomplished through him, his followers, and his holy Rule, to be filled with his spirit, that we may faithfully accomplish Your complete Will. We ask all this through Jesus Christ Our Lord, Who with You lives and reigns, one God, world without end. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Benedict for Protection

Dear Saint Benedict, I thank God for showering you with His grace to love Him above all else and to establish a monastic rule that has helped so many of His children live full and holy lives. Through the cross of Jesus Christ, I ask you to please intercede that God might protect me, my loved ones, my home, property, possessions, and workplace today and always by your holy blessing, that we may never be separated from Jesus, Mary, and the company of all the blessed. Through your intercession may we be delivered from temptation, spiritual oppression, physical ills, and disease. Protect us from drug and alcohol abuse, impurity and immorality, objectionable companions, and negative attitudes. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Prayer of St Benedict

Gracious and Holy Father
Give us wisdom to perceive you
Intelligence to understand you
Diligence to see you
Patience to wait for you
Eyes to behold you
A heart to meditate on you
And a life to proclaim you
Through the power of the
Spirit of Jesus Christ, Our Lord
Amen

Our Lady of Rosa Mystica

PRAYER TO THE ROSA MYSTICA

Rosa Mystica, Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Grace, in honor of thy Divine Son, we prostrate ourselves at thy feet to implore God’s mercy. We beg for help and grace, not relying on any merit of ours, but on the kindness of thy motherly heart, and confident that thou will grant our urgent requests.

Hail Mary . . .

Rosa Mystica, Mother of Jesus, Queen of the Holy Rosary and Mother of the Church, of the Mystical Body of Christ, we implore the gifts of unity and peace for the anxious world, and those graces so able to convert the souls of thy erring children.

Hail Mary . . .

Rosa Mystica, Queen of the Apostles, pray that many men and women may hear Christ’s call to priestly and religious vocations, and help them spread the Kingdom of Jesus Christ throughout the world by the holiness of their lives and their burning zeal for the salvation of souls. Pour out thy Heavenly grace upon us!

Hail Mary . . .

Prayer to Our Lady, Mystical Rose

Maria Rosa Mystica, Mystical Rose, Immaculate Conception. Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, Mother of Grace, Mother of the Mystical Body, Mother of the Church, thou camest down on earth to call upon us children of this earth to love each other, to unite and live in peace.. Thy requests of us the practice of charity, prayer, and penance. We thank God with all our hearts that He has given thee to us as our Mother and Mediatrix in all our needs. Mary, full of grace, please help me, I beseech thee and grant me my special intention. [Mention your intentions.]
Thou hast promised us thy motherly protection, full of graces: “I am always very close to thee, with My motherly love.”
Rosa Mystica, Immaculata, Mater Dolorosa, please show me that thou art my Mother, Bride of the Holy Spirit and Queen of Heaven and Earth. Amen.

NOVENA TO ROSA MYSTICA

Maria, Rosa Mystica, fragrant rose of mysticism, wonderful flower of divine knowledge, of purity and blinding beauty, of brilliant, shining glory, of power and overwhelmingly blessing love: we kneel before you to pray, to look, to listen; to look at you and to inhale your heavenly perfume until we have, above all, taken something of your immaculate, pure, and perfect being into our inner selves; to pray that we should no longer, or above all, ask only for your gifts, for the salvation of, and help for, our body and soul; but to pray that we may become like you; that we may listen attentively and closely to every single word of yours which you have spoken not only in the past but even more so in the present, more frequently and more imploringly.

We do not always want to talk and beg but to listen and heed what you say, what your picture is already saying to us and asking us to do. We want to listen to your quiet motherly voice when it speaks to us so tenderly and consolingly with motherly understanding and warning. We want to open our hearts to you when He is looking into the bottom of our soul, to remain steadfast, to force ourselves not to say again we have no time; instead to endure your sad glance even if we should blush and have to cast down our eyes…

Mary, fragrant Rose of Mysticism, please help us to take a look inside ourselves and to examine ourselves, how we shall be able to bear your glance and stand firm before you; help us to know ourselves better, especially in those areas of thought and deed which displease you; help us to become more like you. We promise that we shall try. We also promise to imitate you. Please help us to work on ourselves, to let your love shine wherever we are able to work, but especially for the priests and religious.

3 Hail Mary…

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who take refuge in you.

First Day
Maria, Rosa Mystica, please protect us from all shamelessness and degeneration, preserve in us the sense for good and evil; prepare us to do battle in defense for all that is pure. Maria, Rosa Mystica, graciously hear us and pray for us.

3 Hail Mary…

Second Day
Maria, Rosa Mystica, grant that you will give us the true spirit of atonement, to fight the current of evil, to accept more often and voluntarily all the unpleasant things the more others fail you. Maria, Rosa Mystica, graciously hear us and pray for us.

3 Hail Mary…

St. Paul: “I make up in my own body what is still missing in the sufferings of Christ!”

And Padre Pio: “I should like to take up a hundredfold the sufferings which others deserve for their sins!”

Third Day
Maria, Rosa Mystica, grant that we do not forget true penance and reparation with all our prayers, at home and on journeys! Please grant us the right spirit when we come to you. Maria, Rosa Mystica, graciously hear us and pray for us.

3 Hail Mary…

Fourth Day
Maria, Rosa Mystica, grant that you may help us and lead us in our efforts. Maria, Rosa Mystica, graciously hear us and pray for us.

3 Hail Mary…

Fifth Day
Let us dare to say this prayer with its full weight and accept its possible consequences as Brother St. Klaus, the patron saint of Switzerland, once prayed: “My Lord and my God, take everything from me, everything that may prevent me from coming to you. Give me everything that brings me close to you. Take me and do with me as you please!”

3 Hail Mary…

Sixth Day
Maria, Rosa Mystica, help us to get to know you more and more, lead us and guide us that we may be able to find the path to your mysticism. Amen.

3 Hail Mary…

Seventh Day
Maria, Rosa Mystica, grant that mankind may find its way to the most beautiful things, to the glories of the supernatural that surpass nature itself. Please give us the fervour to seek this wonderful Divinity and to lead others to it so that they may learn to recognize how poor the delights and desires of this world are compared with Mary, the “Rosa Mystica”.

3 Hail Mary…

Eighth Day
O God, whose only begotten Son has prepared for us the treasures of eternal salvation through His Life, His Death and Resurrection, grant we beseech You that when we meditate on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary and imitate what they contain, we shall receive what they promise through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

3 Hail Mary…

Ninth Day
Even if every christian is called to holiness and mysticism, it is of even greater meaning and importance for the priests and religious. They should venerate and imitate their ideal, Mary, the Rosa Mystica, in a special way; and this is something that is missing quite often, most of all in our seminaries, monasteries and convents. It ought, therefore, to be a special apostolate to spread the purpose and meaning of this devotion in those houses, for nowhere more saints and mystics are needed than there. The task of the laity will be to replace what is missing, through their own apostolate and a more zealous imitation of the Rosa Mystica!

3 Our Father…

3 Hail Mary…

3 Glory be…

for the sanctification of priests, bishops, and religious; for special guidance and strength for the Holy Father.

Final Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, you have sent us Your Mother as a wonderful example of holiness and mysticism and especially as an ideal and patroness for the priests and religious. We ask you, grant us Your help to imitate Your Most Holy Mother more and more, to become souls of expiation and victim souls for those priests and religious, who fail you: You who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Let us pray

O Almighty and merciful God, Who for the triumph of Thy mercy and the salvation of souls hast granted to the Immaculate Virgin Mary boundless powers over the Heart of Jesus, grant, we beseech Thee that by Her prayers and intercession we may avoid the contagion of sin and serve Thee with a pure heart, and that we may live and die in Thy holy love.

O Lord Jesus Christ, our Mediator with the Father, Who hast deigned to appoint the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mystical Rose, Thy Mother and the Mother of Thy Church, to be our Mother also and our Mediatrix with Thee, graciously grant that whosoever goes to Thee in quest of blessings may be gladdened by obtaining them all through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Thou Who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

O Mother, you are leading the way for us in your love for your Son, Jesus Christ. Together with you, let us help the afflicted religious but especially our priests. They have the most sacred power and authority to transform wine and bread into the Body of Your Son; they are the intermediaries between God and us; they bear the great responsibility for our souls. But we are also responsible for the Holy Church to produce holy priests. Help us through Your Immaculate Heart, o sorrowful Mother, who is burning with love for us. Amen.

Maria, Rosa Mystica, our soul becomes joyful as we behold this flower; these green leaves are a sign of our eternal youth;

Maria, Rosa Mystica, Mother of the Infant Christ, Our Lord, and all the souls entrusted to Your maternal care; pierce our flesh in sorrow by Your thorns. On this wood repair us and the world for scores of dubious wrongs. Amen.

Saint Kateri Tekakwitha

St. Kateri Tekakwitha known as Lily of the Mohawks is the first Native American to be recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church. At age four Kateri was the only member of her family to survive smallpox epidemic. She was left with permanent scars on her face and impaired eyesight. She was commonly seen wearing a blanket to hide her face. Kateri Tekakwitha was raised by her uncle, who was the chief of a Mohawk clan. Kateri refused to marry. Her adoptive parents punished her by giving her more work to do, but she did not give in. Instead, she remained quiet and diligent. Eventually they accepted that she had no interest in marriage. At age 19, Kateri Tekakwitha converted to Catholicism, taking a vow of chastity and pledging to marry only Jesus Christ. Her decision started rumors of sorcery. To avoid persecution, she traveled to a Christian native community south of Montreal. According to legend, Kateri was very devout and would put thorns on her sleeping mat.
She often prayed for the conversion of her fellow Mohawks. According to the Jesuit missionaries, she often fasted and when she would eat, she would taint her food to diminish its flavor. Her practices of self-mortification and denial have not helped her health. Just five years after her conversion to Catholicism, she became ill and passed away at age 24, on April 17, 1680. Witnesses said that her scars vanished minutes later, and her face appeared radiant and beautiful.
She was beatified in 1980 by Pope John Paul II, and canonized by Pope Benedict XVI at Saint Peter’s Basilica on 21 October 2012.
She is the patroness of ecology and the environment, people in exile and Native Americans.

Prayer to St. Kateri Tekakwitha

O Saint Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks,
Your love for Jesus,
so strong, so steadfast
pray that we may become like you.
Your short and painful life
showed us your strength and humility.
Pray that we may become
forever humble like you.
Like the bright and shining stars at night,
we pray that your light
may forever shine down upon us,
giving light, hope, peacefulness,
and serenity in our darkest moments.
Fill our hearts, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
with your same love for Jesus
and pray that we have the strength and courage
to become one like you in Heaven.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pray: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

Prayer to the Lily of the Mohawks

Blessed Kateri, you are revered as the mystic of the American wilderness. Though orphaned at the age of four, and left with a scarred face and damaged eyesight from illness, you were esteemed among the Mohawk tribe. When you asked to be baptized a Christian, you subjected yourself to abuse by your people and were forced to run away. You endured many trials but still flowered in prayer and holiness, dedicating yourself totally to Christ. I ask you to be my spiritual guide along my journey through life. Through your intercession, I pray that I may always be loyal to my faith in all things. Amen.

Novena Prayer to Saint Kateri

Kateri, favored child, Flower of the Algonquins and Lily of the Mohawks, We come to seek your intercession in our present need: (mention it here).
We admire the virtures which adorned your soul: love of God and neighbor, humility, obedience, patience, purity and the spirit of sacrifice. Help us to imitate your example in our life. Through the goodness and mercy of God, Who has blessed you with so many graces which led you to the true faith and to a high degree of holiness, pray to God for us and help us.
Obtain for us a very fervent devotion to the Holy Eucharist so that we may love Holy Mass as you did and receive Holy Communion as often as we can. Teach us also to be devoted to our crucified Savior as you were, that we may cheerfully bear our daily crosses for love of Him Who suffered so much for love of us. Most of all we beg you to pray that we may avoid sin, lead a holy life and save our souls. Amen.
In thanksgiving to God for the graces bestowed upon Kateri:
One Our Father, Hail Mary and three Glory Be’s.

Saint Bonaventure

Prayer of Saint Bonaventure

Pierce, O most sweet Lord Jesus, my inmost soul with the most joyous and healthful wound of Thy love, and with true, calm and most holy apostolic charity, that my soul may ever languish and melt with entire love and longing for Thee, may yearn for Thee and for thy courts, may long to be dissolved and to be with Thee.

Grant that my soul may hunger after Thee, the Bread of Angels, the refreshment of holy souls, our daily and super substantial bread, having all sweetness and savor and every delightful taste.

May my heart ever hunger after and feed upon Thee, Whom the angels desire to look upon, and may my inmost soul be filled with the sweetness of Thy savor; may it ever thirst for Thee, the fountain of life, the fountain of wisdom and knowledge, the fountain of eternal light, the torrent of pleasure, the fullness of the house of God;

may it ever compass Thee, seek Thee, find Thee, run to Thee, come up to Thee, meditate on Thee, speak of Thee, and do all for the praise and glory of Thy name, with humility and discretion, with love and delight, with ease and affection, with perseverance to the end; and be Thou alone ever my hope, my entire confidence, my riches, my delight, my pleasure, my joy, my rest and tranquility, my peace, my sweetness, my food, my refreshment, my refuge, my help, my wisdom, my portion, my possession, my treasure; in Whom may my mind and my heart be ever fixed and firm and rooted immovably. Amen.

NOVENA PRAYER

Dear St Bonaventure – Cardinal, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, you chose a life that embraced mortification and great humiliation.
You served those who were rejected and sick, you risked illness for yourself.
You made your life a continuous prayer and spent hours meditating on the wounds of Christ.
St Bonaventure, please pray for me that I may have a sincere and humble heart.
Pray that I may not lose sight of Jesus’ wounds and thus walk on the straight path to eternal salvation.
Pray that I may take a great many souls with me to Our Heavenly Father.
St. Bonaventure you were known to say “One should carefully beware of decreasing, even in the slightest, the honour that is due to Mary.”
May I strive as you did to Love our Blessed Mother and be a carrier of her peace in this world.

St Bonaventure, please place my petitions:

Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order, particularly within the Catholic Church. The first Carmelites were Christian hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the late 12th and early to mid-13th century. They built a chapel in the midst of their hermitages and dedicated it to the Blessed Virgin, whom they conceived of in chivalric terms as the “Lady of the place.” Our Lady of Mount Carmel was adopted in the 19th century as the patron saint of Chile.
On 16 July 1251, as Simon Stock knelt in prayer, Our Lady appeared to him, holding the Child Jesus in one arm and the Brown Scapular in the other. Our Lady gave St. Simon a scapular for the Carmelites with the following promise, saying, “Receive, My beloved son, this habit of thy order: this shall be to thee and to all Carmelites a privilege, that whosoever dies clothed in this shall never suffer eternal fire…It shall be a sign of salvation, a protection in danger, and a pledge of peace.” On 13 January 1252, the order received a letter of protection from Pope Innocent IV, defending them from harassment. There are three conditions necessary to participate in this Privilege
1. Wear the Brown Scapular,

Saint Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene was a woman who according to the four canonical gospels, traveled with Jesus as one of his followers and was a witness to his crucifixion and resurrection. She is mentioned by name twelve times in the canonical gospels, more than most of the apostles and more than any other woman in the gospels, other than Jesus’s family. The Gospels agree that Mary was originally a great sinner. The Gospel of Luke and Mark states that seven demons had been driven out of her. After this, she told several women she associated with and these women also became followers. All four canonical Gospels attest that she witnessed Jesus’ crucifixion and burial. According to the Gospel of Mark and John, Mary Magdalene is the first person to see the resurrected Christ and was instructed to tell the Apostles that he was ascending to God. For these reasons, Mary Magdalene is known in some Christian traditions as the “apostle to the apostles”.
Mary Magdalene is considered to be a saint by the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran denominations. In 2016 Pope Francis raised the level of liturgical memory on July 22 from memorial to feast, and for her to be referred to as the “Apostle of the apostles”. St. Mary Magdalene’s feast day is July 22. She is the patroness of converts, repentant sinners, sexual temptation, pharmacists, tanners and women, and many other places and causes.

Prayer to St. Mary Magdalen

Saint Mary Magdalene,
woman of many sins, who by conversion
became the beloved of Jesus,
thank you for your witness

please intercede for me, so that some day
I may share in the same everlasting joy.
Amen.

Miracle Prayer to St. Mary Magdalene

O Glorious St. Magdalene,
“model of penitents,”
obtain for me
the grace of perseverance
in the practices of self-denial
according to the Spirit
of my vows;
pray to God for me
that I may appear before Jesus
Our Lord and Master,
at the moment of my death,
with my lamp
filled with the oil of faith
and hope, and burning
with the pure flame of charity;
and thus merit to be received
with thee into
His eternal Kingdom.
Amen.

Saint Bridget of Sweden

The Prayers of Saint Bridget

First Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus Christ! Eternal Sweetness to those who love Thee, joy surpassing all joy and all desire, Salvation and Hope of all sinners, Who hast proved that Thou hast no greater desire than to be among men, even assuming human nature at the fullness of time for the love of men, recall all the sufferings Thou hast endured from the instant of Thy conception, and especially during Thy Passion, as it was decreed and ordained from all eternity in the Divine plan.

Remember, O Lord, that during the Last Supper with Thy disciples, having washed their feet, Thou gavest them Thy Most Precious Body and Blood, and while at the same time Thou didst sweetly console them, Thou didst foretell them Thy coming Passion.

Remember the sadness and bitterness which Thou didst experience in Thy Soul as Thou Thyself bore witness saying: “My Soul is sorrowful even unto death.”

Remember all the fear, anguish and pain that Thou didst suffer in Thy delicate Body before the torment of the crucifixion, when, after having prayed three times, bathed in a sweat of blood, Thou wast betrayed by Judas, Thy disciple, arrested by the people of a nation Thou hadst chosen and elevated, accused by false witnesses, unjustly judged by three judges during the flower of Thy youth and during the solemn Paschal season.

Remember that Thou wast despoiled of Thy garments and clothed in those of derision; that Thy Face and Eyes were veiled, that Thou wast buffeted, crowned with thorns, a reed placed in Thy Hands, that Thou was crushed with blows and overwhelmed with affronts and outrages.

In memory of all these pains and sufferings which Thou didst endure before Thy Passion on the Cross, grant me before my death true contrition, a sincere and entire confession, worthy satisfaction and the remission of all my sins. Amen.

Second Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! True liberty of angels, Paradise of delights, remember the horror and sadness which Thou didst endure when Thy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded Thee, and by thousands of insults, spits, blows, lacerations and other unheard-of-cruelties, tormented Thee at will. In consideration of these torments and insulting words, I beseech Thee, O my Savior, to deliver me from all my enemies, visible and invisible, and to bring me, under Thy protection, to the perfection of eternal salvation. Amen.

Third Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Creator of Heaven and earth whom nothing can encompass or limit, Thou Who dost enfold and hold all under Thy Loving power, remember the very bitter pain Thou didst suffer when the Jews nailed Thy Sacred Hands and Feet to the Cross by blow after blow with big blunt nails, and not finding Thee in a pitiable enough state to satisfy their rage, they enlarged Thy Wounds, and added pain to pain, and with indescribable cruelty stretched Thy Body on the Cross, pulled Thee from all sides, thus dislocating Thy Limbs.

I beg of Thee, O Jesus, by the memory of this most Loving suffering of the Cross, to grant me the grace to fear Thee and to Love Thee. Amen.

Fourth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Heavenly Physician, raised aloft on the Cross to heal our wounds with Thine, remember the bruises which Thou didst suffer and the weakness of all Thy Members which were distended to such a degree that never was there pain like unto Thine. From the crown of Thy Head to the Soles of Thy Feet there was not one spot on Thy Body that was not in torment, and yet, forgetting all Thy sufferings, Thou didst not cease to pray to Thy Heavenly Father for Thy enemies, saying: “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Through this great Mercy, and in memory of this suffering, grant that the remembrance of Thy Most Bitter Passion may effect in us a perfect contrition and the remission of all our sins. Amen.

Fifth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Mirror of eternal splendor, remember the sadness which Thou experienced, when contemplating in the light of Thy Divinity the predestination of those who would be saved by the merits of Thy Sacred Passion, Thou didst see at the same time, the great multitude of reprobates who would be damned for their sins, and Thou didst complain bitterly of those hopeless lost and unfortunate sinners.

Through the abyss of compassion and pity, and especially through the goodness which Thou displayed to the good thief when Thou saidst to him: “This day, thou shalt be with Me in Paradise.” I beg of Thee, O Sweet Jesus, that at the hour of my death, Thou wilt show me mercy. Amen.

Sixth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Beloved and most desirable King, remember the grief Thou didst suffer, when naked and like a common criminal, Thou was fastened and raised on the Cross, when all Thy relatives and friends abandoned Thee, except Thy Beloved Mother, who remained close to Thee during Thy agony and whom Thou didst entrust to Thy faithful disciple when Thou saidst to Mary: “Woman, behold thy son!” and to Saint John: “Son, behold thy Mother!”

I beg of Thee O my Savior, by the sword of sorrow which pierced the soul of Thy holy Mother, to have compassion on me in all my affliction and tribulations, both corporal and spiritual, and to assist me in all my trials, and especially at the hour of my death. Amen.

Seventh Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Inexhaustible Fountain of compassion, Who by a profound gesture of Love, said from the Cross: “I thirst!” suffered from the thirst for the salvation of the human race. I beg of Thee O my Savior, to inflame in our hearts the desire to tend toward perfection in all our acts; and to extinguish in us the concupiscence of the flesh and the ardor of worldly desires. Amen.

Eighth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Sweetness of hearts, delight of the spirit, by the bitterness of the vinegar and gall which Thou didst taste on the Cross for Love of us, grant us the grace to receive worthily Thy Precious Body and Blood during our life and at the hour of our death, that they may serve as a remedy and consolation for our souls. Amen.

Ninth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Royal virtue, joy of the mind, recall the pain Thou didst endure when plunged in an ocean of bitterness at the approach of death, insulted, outraged by the Jews, Thou didst cry out in a loud voice that Thou was abandoned by Thy Father, saying: “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken me?”

Through this anguish, I beg of Thee, O my Savior, not to abandon me in the terrors and pains of my death. Amen.

Tenth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Who art the beginning and end of all things, life and virtue, remember that for our sakes Thou was plunged in an abyss of suffering from the soles of Thy Feet to the crown of Thy Head. In consideration of the enormity of Thy Wounds, teach me to keep, through pure love, Thy Commandments, whose way is wide and easy for those who love Thee. Amen.

Eleventh Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Deep abyss of mercy, I beg of Thee, in memory of Thy Wounds which penetrated to the very marrow of Thy Bones and to the depth of Thy Being, to draw me, a miserable sinner, overwhelmed by my offenses, away from sin and to hide me from Thy Face justly irritated against me, hide me in Thy Wounds, until Thy anger and just indignation shall have passed away. Amen.

Twelfth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Mirror of Truth, symbol of unity, link of Charity, remember the multitude of wounds with which Thou was covered from head to foot, torn and reddened by the spilling of Thy adorable Blood. O Great and Universal Pain which Thou didst suffer in Thy virginal Flesh for Love of us! Sweetest Jesus! What is there that Thou couldst have done for us which Thou hast not done! May the fruit of Thy sufferings be renewed in my soul by the faithful remembrance of Thy Passion, and may Thy Love increase in my heart each day, until I see Thee in eternity, Thou Who art the treasury of every real good and every joy, which I beg Thee to grant me, O Sweetest Jesus, in Heaven. Amen.

Thirteenth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Strong Lion, Immortal and Invincible King, remember the pain which Thou didst endure when all Thy strength, both moral and physical, was entirely exhausted, Thou didst bow Thy Head, saying: “It is consummated!”

Through this anguish and grief, I beg of Thee Lord Jesus, to have mercy on me at the hour of my death when my mind will be greatly troubled and my soul will be in anguish. Amen.

Fourteenth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! Only Son of the Father, Splendor and figure of His Substance, remember the simple and humble recommendation Thou didst make of Thy Soul to Thy Eternal Father, saying: “Father, into Thy Hands I commend My Spirit!” And with Thy Body all torn, and Thy Heart Broken, and the bowels of Thy Mercy open to redeem us, Thou didst Expire. By this Precious Death, I beg of Thee O King of Saints, comfort me and help me to resist the devil, the flesh and the world, so that being dead to the world I may live for Thee alone. I beg of Thee at the hour of my death to receive me, a pilgrim and an exile returning to Thee. Amen.

Fifteenth Prayer
Our Father – Hail Mary

O Jesus! True and fruitful Vine! Remember the abundant outpouring of Blood which Thou didst so generously shed from Thy Sacred Body as juice from grapes in a wine press.

From Thy Side, pierced with a lance by a soldier, blood and water issued forth until there was not left in Thy Body a single drop, and finally, like a bundle of myrrh lifted to the top of the Cross Thy delicate Flesh was destroyed, the very Substance of Thy Body withered, and the Marrow of Thy Bones dried up.

Through this bitter Passion and through the outpouring of Thy Precious Blood, I beg of Thee, O Sweet Jesus, to receive my soul when I am in my death agony. Amen.

Conclusion
O Sweet Jesus! Pierce my heart so that my tears of penitence and love will be my bread day and night; may I be converted entirely to Thee, may my heart be Thy perpetual habitation, may my conversation be pleasing to Thee, and may the end of my life be so praiseworthy that I may merit Heaven and there with Thy saints, praise Thee forever. Amen.

Amen.

Saints Joachim and Anne

Prayer to St. Anne and St. Joachim

Dear Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and grandparents of Jesus, our Divine Savior, have pity on thy loving and trusting client, and listen to the petition which I present before thee.
Oh, blessed Saints, thou art both most dear to the Heart of Jesus, Whose beloved Mother was thy own tender, devoted child! Can He refuse anything to thee, in whose veins the same blood flowed which afterwards furnished the precious price of our Redemption? Great Saints, nothing was impossible to thy power and influence over the young Jesus “Who grew and waxed strong, full of wisdom” under the maternal care of thy glorious Daughter, the Queen of Heaven and Earth. In mercy and compassion, be like unto Him “Who went about doing good,” and come to the aid of thy servant in my great necessity!
Saint Anne, Saint Joachim, beloved parents of Mary, “our life, our sweetness and our hope,” pray to her for me and obtain my request. Amen.

NOVENA PRAYER TO SAINTS ANNE & JOACHIM

Good parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

grandparents of our Savior, Jesus Christ,

When life seems barren,

help us to trust in God’s mercy.

When we are confused,

help us to find the way to God.

When we are lost in the desert,

lead us to those whom God has called us to love.

When our marriage seems lifeless,

show us the eternal youth of the Lord.

When we are selfish,

teach us to cling only to that which lasts.

When we are afraid,

help us to trust in God.

When we are ashamed,

remind us that we are God’s children.

When we sin,

lead us to do God’s will.

You who know God’s will for husband and wife,

help us to live chastely.

You who know God’s will for the family,

keep all families close to you.

You who suffered without children,

intercede for all infertile couples.

You who trusted in God’s will,

help us to respect God’s gift of fertility.

You who gave birth to the Blessed Mother,

inspire couples to be co-creators with God.

You who taught the Mother of God,

teach us to nurture children in holy instruction.

You whose hearts trusted in God,

hear our prayers for . . . (state your request).

Pray with us for the ministry of Catholic family life.

Pray with us for the ministry of Natural Family Planning.

Pray with us for all who give their time, talent, and treasure to this good work.

Hail Mary . . . Our Father . . . Glory be . . .

God of our fathers, you gave Saints Anne and Joachim the privilege of being the parents of Mary, the mother of your incarnate Son. May their prayers help us to attain the salvation you have promised to your people.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St Anne and St Joachim

O Holy Mother and Father of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as parents, you guided and nurtured Mary and, under your protection and love, watched her grow in holiness.
Through your faithfulness and goodness the Will of God was fulfilled; the fruits of your virtue and faith brought salvation to the whole world with the birth of the baby Jesus.

“The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:14)

Most Holy St’s Anne and Joachim, come close to us and guide our hand and our hearts in the way of virtue.
Help us to parent our children and grandchildren with a gentle heart as you did.
Show us how to raise our children in faith and bring our families into the Light of Jesus.
Remain close to us and help us on our journey to salvation.

St’s Anne and Joachim, we place our petitions in your hands and ask that you lay them before the child Jesus.

Seek this, my favour [State your request…] but only if it be for the greater glory of God and the good of my soul.

Pray: Our Father…, Hail Mary…, Glory be to the Father….

Blessed Stanley Rother

Prayer for Canonization

O God, fount of all holiness,
make us each walk worthily in our vocation,
through the intercession of your Saints,
on whom you bestowed a great variety of graces on earth.
Having graced your Church with the life of
your priest and martyr, Blessed Stanley Rother,
grant that by his intercession this humble flock may reach
where the brave shepherd has gone.
Grant that your Church may proclaim him a saint
living in your presence and interceding for us.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer of Divine Favor

Blessed Stanley our brother,
you poured out your life in service and spilled your blood as a witness
to the faithfulness of God’s love.
Those you loved so deeply and served so completely
knew you to be their pastor and their priest,
interceding for them as their open door to the presence of Christ.
Pray for us now and intercede on our behalf,
as we ask you to walk with us on our journey through life,
that the redeeming presence of Jesus,
might touch us now and restore us to wholeness and peace.
I ask in time of need [ state your need]
that your prayer accompany us; may the mercy of Christ,
echoed in your ministry and your martyrdom,
renew us and bring us the graces necessary to heal our brokenness,
illumine our darkness, and restore the losses in our lives,
that we may be, finally, one with you in praising God forever in heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Saints Martha, Mary and Lazarus

Prayer to Sts. Martha, Mary and Lazarus

Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that the example of your Saints may spur us on to a better life,
so that we, who celebrate the memory of Saints Martha,
Mary and Lazarus,
may also imitate without ceasing their deeds.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen

COLLECT

O God,
whose Son called Lazarus to life from the grave.
and was pleased to be welcomed in Martha’s house as a guest,
grant, we pray,
that, serving faithfully our brother and sisters,
we may merit, with Mary, to be fed by meditating on your words.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

Opening Prayer

Today, Lord, we honor Martha, Mary and Lazarus.
Friends of Jesus.
Give us their faith in Christ, as the Lord of Life
and the first fruit of the Resurrection.
Make us willing servants
to one another
and attend to their needs.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

O God, I adore You. I give myself to You. May I be the person You want me to be, and May Your will be done in my life today. I thank You for the gifts You gave Father Solanus. Saint Ignatius of Loyola

Prayer of St. Ignatius

“Take, Lord, receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, my whole will, all that I have and all that I possess. You gave it all to me, Lord; I give it all back to you. Do with it as you will, according to your good pleasure. Give me your love and your grace; for with this I have all that I need.”

A Favorite Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola – THE ANIMA CHRISTI

Soul of Christ, sanctify us.
Body of Christ, save us.
Blood of Christ, inebriate us.
Water from the side of Christ, wash us.
Passion of Christ, strengthen us.
O Good Jesus, hear us.
Within your wounds hide us.
Separated from you let us never be.
From the wicked enemy, defend us.
At the hour of death, call us
and bid us come to you,
that with your saints we may praise you
forever and ever. Amen.

THE PRAYER FOR GENEROSITY

Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve –
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to ask for rest,
to labor and not to seek reward,
except to know, my God,
that I do your will.
