St Frances Xavier Cabrini -13th November

Frances Cabrini was born in Italy in 1850, one of thirteen children. When she was eighteen years old, poor health kept her from becoming a Sister. She helped her mother and father until their death, and then worked on a farm with her brother and sister.A priest asked her to teach in a school for girls. She taught for six years. Because a bishop asked her, she started a missionary order in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to care for poor children in schools and hospitals.Frances wrote to Pope Leo XIII, and he told her: “Go to the United States, my child. There is much work awaiting you there.”She came to the United States with six Sisters in 1889, and began working among the Italian people of New York. She became an American citizen. Mother Cabrini started 67 orphanages, schools, and hospitals in 35 years. She was the first American citizen to become a Saint, 7 July 1946.

Prayer for Peace of Mind by Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini

Fortify me with the grace of your Holy Spirit and give your peace to my soul that I may be free from all needless anxiety, solicitude and worry. Help me to desire always that which is pleasing and acceptable to you so that your Will may be my will. Grant that I may rid myself of all unholy desires and that, for your love, I may remain obscure and unknown in this world, to be known only to you. Do not permit me to attribute to myself the good that you perform in me and through me, but rather, referring all honor to your Majesty, may I glory only in my infirmities, so that renouncing sincerely all vainglory which comes from the world, I may aspire to that true and lasting glory which comes from you.
Amen.

Prayer of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini

God our Father, you called Frances Xavier Cabrini from Italy to serve the immigrants of America. By her example teach us concern for the stranger, the sick, and the frustrated. By her prayers help us to see Christ in all the men and women we meet. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer to Mother Cabrini, Patron Saint of Immigrants

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini,
woman of God, disciple of Christ,
you offered the people you met the gifts of life and love
by responding to their physical, emotional
and spiritual needs in practical and creative ways.
Inspired by your confidence in God
and your compassion, love and sense of justice,
we ask you to accompany us as we work
to respond to the urgent needs of our sisters and brothers
fleeing their home countries in search of refuge and peace.
Teach us. Pray for us.
Amen.

Mother Cabrini Jubilee Prayer

Blessed are you, God our Father. You crown with glory the lives of those who serve you faithfully. You inspire your Church with their example and prayers. We offer you thanks and praise for the gift of Mother Cabrini and for the excellence of her missionary discipleship, an icon of your creative love.

Blessed are you, O Christ, Son of the Living God. You ravished the heart of your bride Francesca Saverio Cabrini and enkindled in her the desire to embrace you in the immigrant, in the orphan and in the sick. We are grateful for the beauty which you give to your Church in our dear saint, our mother and our friend.

Blessed are you, O Holy Spirit of Life. Your wisdom shaped the mind and vision of this great woman of Italy and of the Americas. Flood our souls with that same wisdom so that, like Mother Cabrini, we may offer the living sacrifice of our lives in service to the least of our sisters and brothers.

Blessed are you, O Most Holy Trinity, One God. Be praised during this Diamond Jubilee of the Sainthood of Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini. May her presence be known by all who invoke her assistance. Any may you give heavenly peace to all peoples in these troubled times.

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, pray for us.

Prayer for Discernment

My Jesus, I have not always recognized your loving plans for me.
Every day, with the help of your light I learn more of you loving care. Continue to increase my awareness of the gentleness of your loving plans.
I want to follow the purpose for which I was created.
See, I am in your hands.
Help me to choose the best way to serve you.
Walk with me, Jesus. Stay by my side and guide me!

Prayer to Surrender to Jesus

My loving Jesus, I enclose myself i you and surrender myself completely in your loving Heart…Enlighten my mind with a ray of your light, move my heart and soul and make me do whatever pleases you and is for your greater glory.
Jesus, I love you so much…but I am so weak that in my ignorance and sinfulness I still do not know how to correspond, even partially, to all the special graces and loving tenderness with which you surround me.
I will think of you and rest in you, my beloved Jesus.
Behold your servant — do with me whatever you want!

A PRAYER AFTER CONFESSION BY ST. FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI

My dearest Jesus, I have told all my sins as well as I could. I tried hard to make a good confession. I feel sure that you have forgiven me. I thank You. It is only because of all Your sufferings that I can go to confession and free myself from my sins. Your Heart is full of love and mercy for poor sinners. I love You because You are so good to me. My loving Saviour, I shall try to keep from sin and to love You more each day. My dear Mother Mary, pray for me and help me to keep my promises. Protect me and do not let me fall back into sin. Almighty God, kneeling before Your Divine Majesty, I adore You and because You command me, I dare approach Your divine Heart. But what shall I say if You do not enlighten me with a ray of Your divine light.

Speak to my soul, O Lord, and command me to listen to Your voice. Enlighten my will to put Your words into practice. Pour Your grace into my heart; lift up my soul weighed down by my sins; raise my mind to heavenly things, so that earthly desires may no longer appeal to me. Speak to my soul with Your divine omnipotence, for You are my salvation, my life, and my peace, in time and in eternity. Strengthen me with the grace of Your Holy Spirit and give Your peace to my soul that I may be free from all needless worry and care. Help me to desire always that which is pleasing and acceptable to You so that Your Will may be my will, Grant that I may rid myself of all unholy desires, and that for Your love I may remain unknown in this world, and be known only to You.

Do not permit me to attribute to myself the good that You perform in me and through me, but rather, referring all honor to Your majesty, may I glory only in my weakness, so that renouncing sincerely all vain glory which comes from the world, I may aspire to the true and lasting glory which comes from you.
Amen.
