Closing Prayer on the Crucifix (Attributed to St. Isidore of Seville)

Here we are before thee, O Holy Ghost. We feel the burden of our infirmities, but we are united all together in Thy name: come to us, help us, enter into our hearts: teach us what we should do, the path to follow, do for us what Thou askest us to do. Be the only one to propose and guide our decisions, because only Thou, with the Father and the Son, hast a name that is glorious and holy. Do not allow us to offend justice, Thou, who lovest order and peace, let not ignorance lead us astray, Let not human sympathy bias us, do not let people or office influence us. Keep us intimately close to Thee with the gift of Thy Grace, so that we may be only one thing with Thee, and nothing may separate us from the Truth. Gathered in Thy Holy Name, may we be good and firm, so that all we do may be in one accord with Thee, awaiting that the faithful fulfilment of our duty may lead us to the eternal good.

Amen.

Powerful Prayer to St. Vincent Ferrer for Healing

My most loving benefactor, convinced of the glory and power that you enjoy before God, and that you exercise on behalf of all your true devotees, and animated also with great confidence in your powerful patronage:

I humbly kneel before your holy image, like a son before his loving father, like a poor vassal before his generous king, like an afflicted patient before his compassionate physician. See me here kneeling at your blessed feet, full of sorrow and sadness, sickness and misery, indeed, full of all kinds of needs of both soul and body. To you I recourse with all my faith and with confidence so that you may deign to heal me, removing from me my anguishes and granting me the favors that I ask of you.

help me, therefore, my powerful and clement Holy one; heal me of the ailments that afflict me; obtain for me from God the grace to convert wholeheartedly to Him and to serve Him to death; comfort me and encourage me in all my works with your holy assistance; deliver me from all dangers that surround me everywhere, and preserve me always in the health of soul and body that I need so that, in this way, I may be able to fulfil the divine commandments and obligations of my own state, and may also continue to honor you with a fervent devotion and with all my most tender gratitude for your kindness and goodness, being as a true father for me.

listen to me, my Holy One, graciously accepting my cries and, by granting me the Favors that I ask of you and which I wait for, grant me also the great bliss of imitating you in your precious virtues, especially in love to Jesus Christ, our Divine Redeemer, in charity towards my neighbours, in the mortification of my senses, in tender and constant devotion to our most beloved Mother, the Most Holy Virgin of the Rosary, and, finally, in the continuous meditation of my death and of the tremendous day of judgment. So be it.

Amen

Saint Stanislaus

Prayer For The Feast Of St. Stanislaus, Bishop And Martyr

Father,
to honour you, Saint Stanislaus
faced martyrdom with courage.
Keep us strong and loyal
in our faith until death.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Prayer of Intercession to St. Stanislaus

O God, in your providence, you have called your priest, St. Stanislaus, to make known the honor of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and to assist the souls in Purgatory. Following the example of his apostolic life, grant, we pray, that we may also proclaim the fullness of innocence and sanctity of the mother of your Son, and invoking your mercy for the departed, may we safely arrive at our true homeland. Through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer to Saint Stanislaus as your Patron Saint

Saint Stanislaus, my patron most tender and most powerful, angel of purity and seraph of love, I rejoice with thee in thy happy death, a death caused by thy longing to see Mary who was taken up bodily into heaven, and consummated by a mighty impulse of love toward her. I give thanks unto Mary who was pleased to hear and answer thy prayers, and I implore thee, by the glory of that thy happy death, to be the advocate and patron of my death. Intercede with Mary for me that my death, if not so happy as thine, may at least be peaceful under the protection of Mary, my Advocate, and of thee my special patron.

St. Stanislaus Novena

Dear Lord, we thank You for giving us Your martyr, St. Stanislaus, as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the openness to Your will that he showed by answering Your call to serve You in the priesthood.

St. Stanislaus, you began your life in the household of pious parents. From the foundation in the Faith that they gave you, you continued on the path of virtue and openness to God’s will for you.

Pray that all who are called to serve God in a religious vocation may respond generously to His call!

You willingly chose to serve God in the priestly vocation. As a priest, you carried out your vocation faithfully and grew in virtue. You inspired others with your holy example and your preaching.

Pray for me, that I may be open to the path of holiness God calls me to in my life.

Saint Teresa of Los Andes

Opening Prayer Of The Proper Mass Of Saint Teresa De Los Andes

God of mercy, joy of the saints, you set the youthful heart of Saint Teresa ablaze with the fire of virginal love for Christ and for his Church; and even in suffering you made her a cheerful witness to charity.

Through her intercession, fill us with the delights of your Spirit, so that we may proclaim by word and deed the joyful message of your love to the world.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit now and forever.

Amen.

Novena Prayer To Saint Teresa De Los Andes

Lord Jesus, you chose St Teresa of Los Andes to show people the joy of knowing and loving you. She consecrated her life to your love and reflected in her countenance the beauty of your divine Face. You also asked her to spread the joyful message of the Gospel and she spent her young life living the Gospel of love. We ask you, Lord, that her canonization by the Church may serve to exalt your name and to bring her message of faith and love, of joy and hope, to everyone, especially those most in need. We also ask you to grant us the particular grace we now pray for through her intercession.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the father…

Prayer for Surrender to the Heart of Jesus — St. Teresa of the Andes

Only God can satisfy us. He is truth and unchangeable good. He is eternal love. Oh, my Jesus and my mother, may I belong to Him forever. May nothing on earth claims my attention but the tabernacle. Preserve me pure for Yourself so that when I die, I can say: how happy I am now that at last I can lose myself in the infinite Ocean of the Heart of Jesus, my adored Spouse.

Prayer of the Church of Chile to Teresa de Los Andes

Teresa de Los Andes,

Who by the hand of Mary was changed

Into a young girl in love for Jesus Christ,

You are a model of holiness

And a way of perfection for the Church.

You knew how to laugh, to love, to play and to serve.

You were strong to bear suffering and generous to love.

You knew how to contemplate God in the simple things of life.

Show us the love of the Father to live friendship in joy

And tenderness in the family.

Help the weak and the sorrowful

That the Holy Spirit may encourage them in hope.

Intercede for us.

And ask for Chile love and peace.

PALM SUNDAY

Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter that begins the Holy Week. It is the day that we remember and celebrate the day Jesus entered Jerusalem as Savior and King. As Jesus rode a donkey into the town of Jerusalem, a large crowd gathered and laid palm branches and their cloaks across the road, giving Jesus royal treatment. The hundreds of people shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Palm Sunday is a moveable holiday that changes yearly based on Lent and the spring equinox. Many churches celebrate Palm Sunday by waving palm branches, singing traditional hymns, and making crosses out of palm fronds. But while this is a triumphal entry, it is Jesus’ first step toward His death.

A Palm Sunday Prayer

O Lord Jesus Christ,
when you entered Jerusalem,
great crowds waved palm branches and cried “Hosanna.”
Save us now from our sins,
and make us to rejoice in you,
our only Redeemer;
through your mercy, O our God,
you are blessed,
and live and govern all things,
now and forever.
Amen.

Prayer for Illumination

Holy week, turn our hearts again to Jerusalem, and to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Stir up within us the gift of faith that we may not only praise him with our lips, but may follow him in the way of the cross.
Amen.

Prayer for Holy Week

O Father, most merciful,
in the beginning you created us,
and by the passion of your only Son
you created us anew.
Work in us now, both to will and to do what pleases you.
Since we are weak and can do no good thing by ourselves,
grant us your grace and heavenly blessing,
that in whatever work we engage
we may do all to your honor and glory.
Keep us from sin
and empower us daily to do good works,
that as long as we live in the body
we may always perform service to you.
After our departure give us pardon of all our sins,
and receive us to eternal life;
through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
forever and ever.
Amen.

A Palm Sunday Prayer

Dear God, thank you for sending your Son and paving the way for our lives to be set free through Jesus’ death on the cross. Thank you for what this day stands for – the beginning of Holy Week, the start of the journey towards the power of the cross, the victory of the Resurrection, and the rich truth that Jesus truly is our King of Kings.

“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord…”

We give you praise and honor for your ways are righteous and true. We give you worship for you are holy and just. We will declare that your love stands firm forever. For your lovingkindness endures forever.
Thank you that your ways are far greater than our ways, your thoughts far deeper than our thoughts. Thank you that you had a plan to redeem. Thank you that you make all things new. Thank you that your face is towards the righteous, and you hear our prayers, and know our hearts. Help us to stay strong and true to you. Help us not to follow after the voice of the crowds, but to press in close to you, to hear your whispers, and seek after you alone.
We praise you, we bless you Lord! Thank you that you reign supreme and we are more than conquerors through the gift of Christ!
In the Mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen.

Rejoice in the Hope Jesus Made Possible

Father, Palm Sunday is a reminder of the unexpected, yet fully anticipated, King of Kings. Jesus did not look like the Messiah Your people hoped for. The way He entered the Holy City of Jerusalem on that day, riding a young donkey as a significant sign of peace and fulfillment of prophecy, did not align with their expectations of a military conqueror. Much of our daily lives don’t align with our expectations, Father. So much of our lives don’t make sense. This Palm Sunday, let us embrace the unexpected entrance of our Savior, Jesus. He is Peace. Let us apply this incredible truth to our lives. Peace mattered to Jesus. He came to bring us Peace. He is peace. Father, how quickly we forget the Peace we possess in Christ! Remind us, minute by minute, as we navigate difficult days and trying times. Father, we need Peace to live life to the full, as Jesus died for us to live.

A Prayer for Palm Sunday

Father,
Palm Sunday is approaching, and this past year has brought tumultuous times and flashes of fear that none of us have experienced in our lifetimes. The very real fallen state of our world and frailty of life have been put front and centre in our lives in a visceral way. We look to you, Father, to guide us out of our fear and remind us of our Savior. We do not need to be afraid. You have given us the wisdom we need to live each day of our lives to the full purpose You have designed for us to live.

A Palm Sunday Prayer for Joyful Worship

Thank You, Father, for the life You have given us to live. For the sun rising to start another day, and the reminders of Your creation surrounding us. When we witness a beautiful mark of Your creative hand, let us recall that Christ was with You, too, when the world began and the sound of Your voice. He eventually came to earth, and watched the same sunrise we now see. He looked into the stars in the sky, and now looks down upon us, prayerfully, with love. With grateful hearts we praise You, God, for who You are and who we are in You. Let the Peace of Christ’s Palm Sunday entrance remain in our memories. When we are fearful and anxious, help us to recall the Peace in which Jesus rode into the city, so soon after to be crucified. God our Father, help us to act in grace and peace in the face of fear, both known and unknown, knowing You are incredibly close.

Confession of Sin

The voice of the messenger echoes from the desert, calling us to prepare the way of the Lord and make a straight path on which he may come. Let us confess our sins, so that our crooked ways will be made straight and the rough ways smooth.

Our sovereign Redeemer, we join with the people of Jerusalem offering our own shouts of praise and celebration at your coming. Although we often welcome you as did the multitude on Palm Sunday, we also have not always understood what that meant. We confess as well that we have stood with the condemning crowd on Good Friday with our thoughts, words, and actions crying “Crucify!” And like Peter we have, at times, denied our relationship with you through our silence. We turn to you for help and forgiveness, gracious Savior, not because we deserve it, but because you are forgiving. Save us from our sinful ways, and restore us to a life of loyalty to you. Amen. (From the Moravian Book of Worship, page 50)
A silence is observed for the opportunity to reflect on your own particular shortcomings, and upon the gift of God’s grace.
Christ Jesus, our Lord, came to restore us to a right relationship with God. Know that your sins are forgiven, be glad and rejoice.
Amen.

Confession and Forgiveness

Jesus rode into Jerusalem not as a conquering king but in humility, the Servant King, ready to complete the task for which he had walked this world. Forgive us those times when we think too highly of ourselves and remind us always that you ask from us lives dedicated to service, to you and to our neighbours, wherever and whoever they might be. Enable us to take off our cloaks of self-righteousness and lay them down at your feet.

‘Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” – and you forgave the guilt of my sin.’
Psalm 32:5

Affirmation

What a strange paradox; the King is coming, the people rejoice, singing ‘Hosanna in the highest!’ yet fail to understand that the King they welcome is the Servant King, the King who washes his disciples’ feet, the King who came not with an army but a weapon so powerful that not even death could resist, the sacrificial love of God laid out upon a Cross.

Lord God, as we sing our ‘Hosannas’ today may we remember also that which you were riding toward; the suffering and rejection, pain and humiliation, the cruel Cross. And let us look forward to the joy of Easter Day when you rose from death to reign forever.
Help us, as we daily lay our lives before you, to live the resurrection life that acknowledges Jesus as Lord and King over our lives.

Blessed Peter Gonzalez

Prayers

Almighty God, you bestowed the singular help of Blessed Peter on those in peril from the sea. By the help of his prayers may the light of your grace shine forth in all the storms of this life and enable us to find the harbor of everlasting salvation. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday is otherwise called Maundy Thursday and falls on the Thursday before Easter. This is the 5th day of the Holy Week and preceded by Spy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday. This day is the commemoration of the institution of Eucharist by Jesus Christ Himself at the Last Supper. The Last Supper celebrated by Jesus with His disciples was actually the annual Passover feast celebrated by Jews commemorating their deliverance from slavery by God from the Egyptian Pharaoh.

Come, O Jesus of the Eucharist

Jesus of the Eucharist! Come to us and be our Ruler! All that we have and are is Yours to command, for all that we have is Yours. If our hearts are poor, enrich them with Your grace. If they have been sinful and soiled, accept them pure and cleansed through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Suffering Heart of Jesus! to You we confide all the trials of our souls.
Sweet Heart of Jesus! to Your care we confide our weaknesses and ask You to accept our sincere repentance.
Compassionate Heart of Jesus! to You we confide our souls tormented by our suffering conscience.
Gentle heart of Jesus! we confide to You the peace and salvation of our families.
Eucharistic Heart of Jesus! the world, worried unto death, finds a refuge in Your Heart, where the lance once opened for us the source of Life.
Come, O Jesus! Be our brother in the pure joy of Christian love!
Come, O Jesus! Be our friend in the depths of this world’s sorrows.

Prayers for Priests

1. O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priests. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.
In their loneliness, comfort them. In their sorrows, strengthen them. In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show them that they are needed by the Church; they are needed by souls; they are needed for the work of redemption.

2. A Prayer for Priests
By St. Therese of Lisieux
O Jesus, eternal Priest,
keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,
where none may touch them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands,
which daily touch Your Sacred Body.
Keep unsullied their lips,
daily purpled with your Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts,
sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.
Let Your holy love surround them and
shield them from the world’s contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit and
may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and
everlasting crown. Amen.

3. A Prayer for Priests
By John Cardinal O’Connor
O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your sons who are close to you because of their priestly ordination and because of the power which they have received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength, and especially help them to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy.
Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs.
We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, anointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.
Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.
We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread.
We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary the mother of all priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen.

Prayer to the Shoulder Would of Jesus by St. Bernard of Clairvaux

O Loving Jesus, meek Lamb of God,
I a miserable sinner, salute and worship
the most Sacred Wound of Thy Shoulder
on which Thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross,
which so tore Thy Flesh and laid bare Thy Bones
as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater
than any other Wound of Thy Most Blessed Body.

I adore Thee, O Jesus most sorrowful;
I praise and glorify Thee and give Thee thanks
for this most sacred and painful Wound,
beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain
and by the crushing burden of Thy heavy Cross
to be merciful to me, a sinner,
to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins,
and to lead me on towards Heaven
along the Way of Thy Cross.
Amen.
Hail Mary… (3x)

St. Padre Pio’s Prayer to Jesus

O my Jesus, give me Your strength
when my weak nature rebels
against the distress and suffering of this life of exile,
and enable me to accept everything with serenity and peace.
With my whole strength I cling to Your merits,
Your sufferings, Your expiation, and Your tears,
so that I may be able to cooperate with You in the work of salvation.
Give me strength to fly from sin, the only cause of Your agony,
Your sweat of blood, and Your death.
Destroy in me all that displeases You
and fill my heart with the fire of Your holy love
and all Your sufferings.
Clasp me tenderly, firmly, close to You
that I may never leave You alone
in Your cruel Passion.
I ask only for a place of rest in Your Heart.
Amen.

St. Gertrude’s Prayer in Honor of Christ’s Passion

O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, grant that I may aspire towards Thee with my whole heart, with yearning desire and with thirsting soul, seeking only Thy sweetness and Thy delights, so that my whole mind and all that is within me may ardently sigh to Thee, who art our true Beatitude.
O most merciful Lord, engrave Thy Wounds upon my heart with Thy most Precious Blood, that I may read in them both Thy grief and Thy love; and that the memory of Thy Wounds may ever remain in my inmost heart, to excite my compassion for Thy sufferings and to increase in me Thy love. Grant also that I may despise all creatures, and that my heart may delight in Thee alone.
Amen.

Psalm 22: 2-22

My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
Why so far from my call for help,
from my cries of anguish?
My God, I call by day, but you do not answer;
by night, but I have no relief.
Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
you are the glory of Israel.
In you our fathers trusted;
they trusted and you rescued them.
To you they cried out and they escaped;
in you they trusted and were not disappointed.
But I am a worm, not a man,
scorned by men, despised by the people.
All who see me mock me;
they curl their lips and jeer;
they shake their heads at me:
“He relied on the LORD—let him deliver him;
if he loves him, let him rescue him.”
For you drew me forth from the womb,
made me safe at my mother’s breasts.
Upon you I was thrust from the womb;
since my mother bore me you are my God.
Do not stay far from me,
for trouble is near,
and there is no one to help.
Many bulls surround me;
fierce bulls of Bashan encircle me.
They open their mouths against me,
lions that rend and roar.
Like water my life drains away;
all my bones are disjointed.
My heart has become like wax,
it melts away within me.
As dry as a potsherd is my throat;
my tongue cleaves to my palate;
you lay me in the dust of death.
Dogs surround me;
a pack of evildoers closes in on me.
They have pierced my hands and my feet
I can count all my bones.
They stare at me and gloat;
they divide my garments among them;
for my clothing they cast lots
But you, LORD, do not stay far off;
my strength, come quickly to help me.
Deliver my soul from the sword,
my life from the grip of the dog.
Save me from the lion’s mouth,
my poor life from the horns of wild bulls.

Good Friday Prayer

They brought Jesus to the house of the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate in the morning and charged Jesus with subverting the nation by His preaching and opposing payment of taxes to Caesar and also making Him the King of Jews. Even though Pilate wanted to release Jesus but due to the compulsion of the Jews and fearing that riots may happen if Jesus was released, Pilate washed his hands in front of the Jews telling that the sin of the blood of this Man was not on him, and handed over Jesus to the Jews for crucification. The Jews and the guards ill-treated Jesus and loaded the cross on His shoulders. Jesus carried His cross to the site of crucification called the place of the skull (Golgotha in Hebrew and Calvary in Latin). Jesus suffered on the cross for about six hours and gave-up His spirit at about 3.00 p.m. Some researchers say that the date of death of Jesus on the cross was April 3, 33 A.D. Jesus was buried in the tomb by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, both members of the Sanhedrin, the Jewish Council that first convicted Jesus to death by following the Jewish burial customs.

Good Friday is a day of fast for the Catholic Christians. On this day they are permitted to eat one full meal and two small repasts together do not equal to one full meal and should abstain from eating meat. Why the day of the death of Jesus the Son of God is called Good Friday? What is good in this day instead of sorrow? The reason is that Jesus died for the absolving the sins of all the human beings. The benefits for the humanity due to the death of Jesus are good. No celebration of Eucharist and ringing of bells in the churches on this day. Baptism can be given only to persons who are in danger of death.

O Jesus, Who by reason of Thy burning love for us hast willed to be crucified and to shed Thy Most Precious Blood for the redemption and salvation of our souls, look down upon us here gathered together in
remembrance of Thy most sorrowful Passion and Death, fully trusting in Thy mercy; cleanse us from sin by Thy grace, sanctify our toil, give unto us and unto all those who are dear to us our daily bread, sweeten our sufferings, bless our families, and to the nations so sorely afflicted, grant Thy peace, which is the only true peace, so that by obeying Thy commandments we may come at last to the glory of heaven. Amen.

PRAYER MEDITATION FOR GOOD FRIDAY

My Most Glorious and Suffering Lord, it is Your Hour. It is the Hour by which You conquered sin and death. It is the Hour for which You came into this world, taking on flesh so as to offer Your precious life for the salvation of the world. May I be with You, dear Lord, in these moments of suffering and death. May I, like Your Mother, John and Mary Magdalene, stand at the foot of the Cross, gazing upon the perfect Gift of Love. My suffering Lord, may I see in Your Cross the most perfect act ever known in this world. May I see Love in its most pure form. May my eyes and soul look beyond the blood and pain and see Your Divine Heart, pouring forth Mercy upon me and upon the whole world. Today I kneel in silent adoration of You, my God. I sit quietly, beholding the great mystery of our faith. I behold God, beaten, bruised, mocked, tortured and killed. But in this act, I see all grace and Mercy flowing from Your wounded Heart. Bathe the world in Your Mercy, dear Lord. Cover us with Your grace and draw us to new life through Your death. I love You, dear Lord. I love You with all my heart. Jesus, I trust in You.

Holy Saturday

It is the last day of the Holy Week. In this day Jesus body remained in the rock hewn tomb originally made for Joseph of Arimathea, member of the Jewish Council. Though a member of the council, he had not consented to the council’s purpose and deed (Luke 23:51) but also he did not supported Jesus during the trial in the council. Some legend says that this Joseph of Arimathea was an uncle of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Some say that the Sanhedrin should be convened only during the daytime to deal with criminal charges and also criminal charges should not be transacted during the Passover season. Moreover it must meet in the Hall of Hewn Stone for its decision to be valid. But these procedures were not followed. But the meeting was convened during the night and at the residence of the Chief Priest. The Jewish leaders in their haste to eliminate Jesus quickly did not seem to have followed their own rules about Sanhedrin.

Holy Saturday lasts till dusk or 6.00 p.m. and after which the Easter Vigil is celebrated. The church service usually starts with the blessing of fresh fire and the lighting of the Paschal Candle. All faithful are required to renew their baptism vows and baptism administered to children and other new entrants to the Catholic Church.

Holy Saturday Prayer to Be Joined with Christ in Death

O Lord, Your sorrowing Mother stood by Your Cross; help us in our sorrows to share Your sufferings. Like the seed buried in the ground, You have produced the harvest of eternal life for us; make us always dead to sin and alive to God. Shepard of all, in death you remained hidden from the world; teach us to love our hidden spiritual life with You and the Father. In Your role as the new Adam, You went down among the dead to release all the just there since the beginning; grant that all who are dead in sin may hear Your voice and rise to new life. Son of the living God, You have allowed us through baptism to be buried with You; grant that we may also rise with You in baptism and walk in newness of life.

Holy Saturday Prayers

All-powerful and ever-living God, your only Son went down among the dead and rose again in glory. In your goodness raise up your faithful people, buried with him in baptism, to be one with him in the eternal life of heaven, where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

O God, Creator of heaven and earth: Grant that, as the crucified body of your dear Son was laid in the tomb and rested on this holy Sabbath, so we may await with him the coming of the third day, and rise with him to newness of life; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Easter Sunday

A Prayer for Easter Sunday

Lord God, you loved this world so much that you gave your one and only Son, that we might be called your children too. Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace of Easter Sunday, every day. Let us have hearts of thankfulness for your sacrifice. Let us have eyes that look upon your grace and rejoice in our salvation. Help us to walk in that mighty grace and tell your good news to the world. All for your glory do we pray, Lord, Amen.

Oh God, Who this day by Your only-begotten Son vanquishing death, has unlocked for us the gate of eternity, help us to attain the desires to which You have led us by Your inspirations. We ask this through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Oh God, as we renew our Baptismal vows, help us to be made worthy of Eternal Life, that we may always seek to do Your will in our hearts and minds, that we may show others Your saving grace and Your love. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen. Oh God, who makes the faithful to be of one mind and will, grant that we, Your people; may love what you command and desire what You promise so that, amid the changing things of this world, our hearts may be fixed where true joys are to be found. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Saint Anselm

A Prayer by St. Anselm of Canterbury

O my God, teach my heart where and how to seek You,
where and how to find You.
You are my God and You are my all and I have never seen You.
You have made me and remade me,
You have bestowed on me all the good things I possess,
Still I do not know You.
I have not yet done that for which I was made.
Teach me to seek You.
I cannot seek You unless You teach me
or find You unless You show Yourself to me.
Let me seek You in my desire,
let me desire You in my seeking.
Let me find You by loving You,
let me love You when I find You.
Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ;
Let me seek you by desiring you,
and let me desire you by seeking you;
let me find you by loving you,
and love you in finding you.
I confess, Lord, with thanksgiving,
that you have made me in your image,
so that I can remember you, think of you, and love you.
But that image is so worn and blotted out by faults,
and darkened by the smoke of sin,
that it cannot do that for which it was made,
unless you renew and refashion it.
Lord, I am not trying to make my way to your height,
for my understanding is in no way equal to that,
but I do desire to understand a little of your truth
which my heart already believes and loves.
I do not seek to understand so that I can believe,
but I believe so that I may understand;
and what is more,
I believe that unless I do believe, I shall not understand.

… St Anselm of Canterbury, Pray for Us …

Prayer of Saint Anselm

Lord, because you have made me, I owe you the whole of my love; because you have redeemed me, I owe you the whole of myself; because you have promised so much, I owe you my whole being.

Moreover, I owe you as much more love than myself as you are greater than I, for whom you gave yourself and to whom you promised yourself. I pray you, Lord, make me taste by love what I taste by knowledge; let me know by love what I know by understanding. I owe you more than my whole self, but I have no more, and by myself I cannot render the whole of it to you.

Draw me to you, Lord, in the fullness of your love. I am wholly yours by creation; make me all yours, too, in love.
Amen.

but who accomplished great work of conversion among them…
to these indignant souls you repeatedly returned,
ever spreading Christ’s message further.
St Adalbert, Apostle to nations, pray for us,
that in God’s Church today His Word may go boldly forth
to convert hearts so hardened by sin,
that the acquired ignorance of peoples returning to paganism
will be thoroughly dispelled by truth.

till all have heard and understood the glory
to which they are called by our Savior.

Saint George

Preparatory Prayer

Almighty and eternal God! With lively faith and reverently worshiping Thy divine Majesty, I prostrate myself before Thee and invoke with filial trust Thy supreme bounty and mercy. Illumine the darkness of my intellect with a ray of Thy heavenly light and inflame my heart with the fire of Thy divine love, that I may contemplate the great virtues and merits of the saint in whose honor I make this novena, and following his example imitate, like him, the life of Thy divine Son.
Moreover, I beseech Thee to grant graciously, through the merits and intercession of this powerful Helper, the petition which through him I humbly place before Thee, devoutly saving, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Vouchsafe graciously to hear it, if it redounds to Thy greater glory and to the salvation of my soul.
Amen.

Prayer In Honor Of St. George

O GOD, who didst grant to St. George strength and constancy in the various torments which he sustained for our holy faith; we beseech Thee to preserve, through his intercession, our faith from wavering and doubt, so that we may serve Thee with a sincere heart faithfully unto death. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Invocation Of St. George (Novena)

FAITHFUL servant of God and invincible martyr, St. George; favored by God with the gift of faith, and inflamed with an ardent love of Christ, thou didst fight valiantly against the dragon of pride, falsehood, and deceit. Neither pain nor torture, sword nor death could part thee from the love of Christ. I fervently implore thee for the sake of this love to help me by thy intercession to overcome the temptations that surround me, and to bear bravely the trials that oppress me, so that I may patiently carry the cross which is placed upon me; and let neither distress nor difficulties separate me from the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Valiant champion of the Faith, assist me in the combat against evil, that I may win the crown promised to them that persevere unto the end.

Prayer

My LORD and my God! I offer up to Thee my petition in union with the bitter passion and death of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, together with the merits of His immaculate and blessed Mother, Mary ever virgin, and of all the saints, particularly with those of the holy Helper in whose honour I make this novena.
Look down upon me, merciful Lord! Grant me Thy grace and Thy love, and graciously hear my prayer.
Amen.

A Prayer to St George, for Triumph in My Battles

Mighty God, Saint George was nicknamed the “Victory Bringer” because he relied on Your power to defeat evil wherever he went. Starting out as a soldier in his country’s army, he converted and became a soldier for Christ. Laying down the world’s armor by giving his wealth to the poor, he forever after carried the shield of faith and won many victories for those who sought Your help. I ask him to pray for the battles I’ve been enduring, and to bring Your triumph into my life. Help me to overcome the Enemy, Lord Jesus, and teach me how to protect myself with ever-increasing faith.

Saint George, pray for me.

Amen.

Prayer to Saint George for Strong Protection Against Enemies

I will go dressed and armed with the weapons of Saint George so that my enemies, having feet will not reach me; having hands will not trap me; having eyes will not see me, neither with thought can they cause me harm.
Firearms will not reach my body; knives and swords will break without touching my body, ropes and chains will break without tying my body.
Jesus Christ protects and defends me with the power of His Holy and Divine Grace.
The Virgin of Nazareth covers me with her sacred and divine mantle, protecting me in all my Dolors and afflictions.
And God, with His Divine Mercy and great power, is my defender against the evils and persecutions of my enemies.
Glorious Saint George, in the name of God, extend to me your shield and your powerful arms, defending me with your strength and your greatness; and may my enemies underneath your feet become humble and submissive to you.
So Be it in the Power of God, of Jesus Christ and of the Divine Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Youth Prayer to St. George for Courage

Heavenly Father,
St. George honoured your son Jesus by refusing to deny him.
Please grant me the strength and courage you gave St. George.
When my friends are gossiping, let me make my words true and kind.
When somebody is being bullied, let me be the one who stands up for him.
When I am about to use my electronics or social media inappropriately, let me turn away.
When my Catholic faith is being misrepresented, give me the words to defend it.
When I am tempted by evil, help me to stay on the good path.

I ask this through the intercession of St. George
and in the name of your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Saint Mark

Prayer to St. Mark

St. Mark Novena

Dear Lord, we thank You for giving us St. Mark as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the devotion to You he showed in working as a missionary for Your Church.

St. Mark, we know from the Acts of the Apostles that you accompanied St. Paul on one of his missionary journeys. Though you probably found this lifestyle to be difficult, you continued to serve God.

Please bring my petitions before God Whom you served!

Despite your departure from Paul’s missionary journey, you devoted the rest of your life to serving God and His Church. It is believed that you even established the Church in Alexandria.

Pray for me, that I may always be eager to serve God in my life. Pray that I may never miss the opportunity to preach the Good News to others.

Please also pray for

The Collect

O ALMIGHTY God, who hast instructed thy holy Church with the heavenly doctrine of thy Evangelist Saint Mark: Give us grace, that, being not like children carried away with every blast of vain doctrine, we may be established in the truth of thy holy Gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Collect Prayer

O God, who raised up Saint Mark, your Evangelist,
and endowed him with the grace to preach the Gospel,
grant, we pray, that we may so profit from his teaching
as to follow faithfully in the footsteps of Christ.

one God, for ever and ever.

Saint Louis Mary Grignion de Montfort

St. Louis de Montfort Prayer

Hail Mary, beloved Daughter of the Eternal Father! Hail Mary, admirable Mother of the Son! Hail Mary, faithful spouse of the Holy Ghost! Hail Mary, my dear Mother, my loving Mistress, my powerful sovereign! Hail my joy, my glory, my heart, and my soul! Thou art all mine by mercy, and I am all thine by justice. But I am not yet sufficiently thine. I now give myself wholly to thee without keeping anything back for myself or others. If thou still see in me anything which does not belong to thee, I beseech thee to take it and to make thyself the absolute Mistress of all that is mine. Destroy in me all that may be displeasing to God; root it up and bring it to naught; place and cultivate in me everything that is pleasing to thee.

May the light of thy faith dispel the darkness of my mind; may thy profound humility take the place of my pride; may thy sublime contemplation check the distractions of my wandering imagination; may thy continuous sight of God fill my memory with His presence; may the burning love of thy heart inflame the lukewarmness of mine; may thy virtues take the place of my sins; may thy merits be my only adornment in the sight of God and make up for all that is wanting in me.

Finally, dearly beloved Mother, grant, if it be possible, that I may have no other spirit but thine, to know Jesus and His divine will; that I may have no other soul but thine, to praise and glorify the Lord; that I may have no other heart but thine, to love God with a love as pure and ardent as thine.
I do not ask thee for visions, revelations, sensible devotion, or spiritual pleasures. It is thy privilege to see God clearly; it is thy privilege to enjoy heavenly bliss; it is thy privilege to triumph gloriously in Heaven at the right hand of thy Son and to hold absolute sway over angels, men and demons; it is thy privilege to dispose of all the gifts of God just as thou willest.

Such is, O heavenly Mary, the “best part,” which the Lord has given thee and which shall never be taken away from thee—and this thought fills my heart with joy. As for my part here below, I wish for no other than that which was thine: to believe sincerely without spiritual pleasures; to suffer joyfully without human consolation; to die continually to myself without respite; and to work zealously and unselfishly for thee until death as the humblest of thy servants.

The only grace I beg thee to obtain for me is that every day and every moment of my life I may say “Amen; so be it”—to all that thou didst do while on earth; “Amen; so be it”—to all that thou art now doing in Heaven; “Amen; so be it”—to all that thou art doing in my soul, so that thou alone mayest fully glorify Jesus in me for time and eternity.
Amen.

Prayer of Saint Louis-Marie Grignon de Montfort

Our Father who art in heaven, you completely fill heaven and earth with the immensity of your being; you are present everywhere; you are in the saints by your glory, in the damned by your justice, in the good by your grace, even in sinners by your patience, tolerating them. Grant that we may always remember that we come from you and that we may live as your true children. Grant that we may set our true course according to your will and never swerve from you. Grant that we may use our every power, our hearts and souls and strength to tend toward you, and you alone.

St. Louis de Montfort Novena

O God, Who in the power
of the Holy Spirit
have made Saint Louis-Marie
an ardent apostle of Christ Crucified
and a faithful son of the Virgin Mary,
Grant that through
his example and intercession…
(Mention your request here…)
we may be renewed
in the Spirit of our baptism
and be always faithful
to Our Lord Jesus Christ
Who lives and reigns
with You and Holy Spirit.
One God. forever and ever.
Amen

St. Louis de Montfort Novena

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
St. Louis de Montfort, you consecrated yourself to Jesus through Mary in your earthly life and are even more fully devoted to them now in Heaven. I ask that you present my petitions before our most blessed Mother, who will in turn place them at the feet of her Son.
*Insert petitions here*
St. Louis de Montfort, two of the ten principal virtues that Mary exemplified were deep humility and constant self-denial. Please intercede on my behalf that I may grow in humility and self-denial, seeing myself through God’s eyes, that I may offer myself more fully to Christ working through me.
Amen.

Divine Mercy Sunday

The Chaplet of Mercy

Make the Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Optional Opening Prayers

St. Faustina’s Prayer for Sinners

O Jesus, eternal Truth, our Life, I call upon You and I beg Your mercy for poor sinners. O sweetest Heart of my Lord, full of pity and unfathomable mercy, I plead with You for poor sinners.

O Most Sacred Heart, Fount of Mercy from which gush forth rays of inconceivable graces upon the entire human race, I beg of You light for poor sinners. O Jesus, be mindful of Your own bitter Passion and do not permit the loss of souls redeemed at so dear a price of Your most precious Blood.

O Jesus, when I consider the great price of Your Blood, I rejoice at its immensity, for one drop alone would have been enough for the salvation of all sinners. Although sin is an abyss of wickedness and ingratitude, the price paid for us can never be equalled.

Therefore, let every soul trust in the Passion of the Lord, and place its hope in His mercy. God will not deny His mercy to anyone. Heaven and earth may change, but God’s mercy will never be exhausted. Oh, what immense joy burns in my heart when I contemplate Your incomprehensible goodness, O Jesus! I desire to bring all sinners to Your feet that they may glorify Your mercy throughout endless ages (Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, 72).

3 O’clock Prayer

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

(Repeat three times)

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death,

Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Amen.

The Eternal Father

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the 10 Small Beads of Each Decade

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Repeat for the remaining decades

Saying the “Eternal Father” (6) on the “Our Father” bead and then (10) “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion” (7) on the following “Hail Mary” beads.

Conclude with Holy God (Repeat three times)

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Closing Prayers

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

(Optional)

O Greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness, today all mankind calls out from the abyss of its misery to Your mercy — to Your compassion, O God; and it is with its mighty voice of misery that it cries out. Gracious God, do not reject the prayer of this earth’s exiles! O Lord, Goodness beyond our understanding, Who are acquainted with our misery through and through, and know that by our own power we cannot ascend to You, we implore You: anticipate us with Your grace and keep on increasing Your mercy in us, that we may faithfully do Your holy will all through our life and at death’s hour. Let the omnipotence of Your mercy shield us from the darts of our salvation’s enemies, that we may with confidence, as Your children, await Your [Son’s] final coming — that day known to You alone. And we expect to obtain everything promised us by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness. For Jesus is our Hope: through His merciful Heart, as through an open gate, we pass through to heaven.

The Divine Mercy Novena

DAY 1 (Good Friday)

Today bring to Me ALL MANKIND, ESPECIALLY ALL SINNERS, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me.

Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Oh, omnipotence of Divine Mercy,
Salvation of sinful people,
You are a sea of mercy and compassion;
You aid those who treat You with humility.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy forever and ever.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 2 (Holy Saturday)

Today bring to Me THE SOULS OF PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS, and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave Me strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them as through channels My mercy flows out upon mankind.

Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in men and women consecrated to Your service, that they may perform worthy works of mercy; and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in Heaven.

The fountain of God’s love
Dwells in pure hearts,
Bathed in the Sea of Mercy Radiant as stars,
bright as the dawn.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company of chosen ones in Your vineyard—upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others in the way of salvation and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless mercy for ages without end.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 3 (Easter Sunday)

Today bring to Me ALL DEVOUT AND FAITHFUL SOULS, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought Me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were that drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness.

Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this grace of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

The miracles of mercy are impenetrable.
Neither the sinner nor just one will fathom them.
When You cast upon us an eye of pity,
You draw us all closer to Your love.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 4 (Easter Monday)

Today bring to Me THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD AND THOSE WHO DO NOT YET KNOW ME. I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy.

Most compassionate Jesus, you are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

May the light of Your love
Enlighten the souls in darkness;
Grant that these souls will know You
And, together with us, praise Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 5 (Easter Tuesday)

Today bring to Me THE SOULS OF THOSE WHO HAVE SEPARATED THEMSELVES FROM MY CHURCH, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church, My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion.

Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, you do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.

Even for those who have torn the garment of your unity,
A fount of mercy flows from Your Heart.
The omnipotence of Your mercy, Oh God.
Can lead these souls also out of error.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son’s Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 6 (Easter Wednesday)

Today bring to Me THE MEEK AND HUMBLE SOULS AND THE SOULS OF LITTLE CHILDREN, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the humble soul is capable of receiving My grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence.

Most Merciful Jesus, you yourself have said, “Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.” Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father’s favourite. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

A truly gentle and humble soul
Already here on earth the air of paradise breathes,
And in the fragrance of her humble heart
The Creator Himself delights.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 7 (Easter Thursday)

Today bring to Me THE SOULS WHO ESPECIALLY VENERATE AND GLORIFY MY MERCY,and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death.

Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

A soul who praises the goodness of her Lord
Is especially loved by Him.
She is always close to the living fountain
And draws graces from Mercy Divine.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living, Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God: Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them, I Myself will defend as My own glory, during their lifetime, and especially at the hour of their death, those souls who will venerate My fathomless mercy.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 8 (Easter Friday)

Today bring to Me THE SOULS WHO ARE DETAINED IN PURGATORY, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice.

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so, I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

From that terrible heat of the cleansing fire
Rises a plaint to Your mercy,
And they receive comfort, refreshment, relief
In the stream of mingled Blood and Water.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

DAY 9 (Easter Saturday)

Today bring to Me SOULS WHO HAVE BECOME LUKEWARM,and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: ‘Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.’ For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy.

Most compassionate Jesus, you are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls, who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardour of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Fire and ice cannot be joined,
Either the fire dies, or the ice melts.
But by Your mercy, O God,
You can make up for all that is lacking.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy.

Amen.

Now pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

Prayer of Entrustment to Divine Mercy

O Lord, our God.

We place our trust in You,

Because you are mercy itself.

We repent of our sins and turn to You for mercy.

We trust you to provide for our every need, according to Your will.

Help us to forgive others as You forgive us.

We promise to be merciful by our deeds, words and prayers.

Though we have fears because of human weakness, we rely on Your infinite goodness and mercy.

We entrust to You the future of our planet, our Church, our nations, our families and all our needs.

With loud cries we implore your mercy on us and on the whole world.

Look upon us, created in your image and likeness.

Form us in the Heart of Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit into the living images of mercy.

May all come to know the depth of Your mercy and sing the praises of Your mercy forever.

Amen!.

Saint Peter Chanel

Prayer to Saint Peter Chanel

O God, who for the spreading of your Church
crowned Saint Peter Chanel with martyrdom,
grant that, in these days of paschal joy,
we may so celebrate the mysteries of Christ’s Death and Resurrection
as to bear worthy witness to newness of life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer to St Peter Chanel

St Peter Chanel, you left your homeland to proclaim Jesus, Saviour of the world, to the peoples of Oceania.
Guided by the Spirit of God, who is the strength of the gentle, you bore witness to love, even laying down your life.
Grant that, like you, we may live our daily life in peace, in joy, and in fraternal love.
May your prayer and example call forth from our midst many workers for the Gospel so that God’s Kingdom may reach to the ends of the earth.
Amen.

Saint Catherine of Siena

Prayer of Catherine of Siena

Holy Spirit, come into my heart;
draw it to Thee by Thy power, O my God,
and grant me charity with filial fear.
Preserve me, O beautiful love, from every evil thought; warm me, inflame me with Thy dear love, and every pain will seem light to me.
My Father, my sweet Lord, help me in all my actions.
Jesus, love, Jesus, love.
Amen.

“Loved Undefiled” by St. Catherine of Siena

Eternal God, eternal Trinity,
You have made the Blood of Christ so precious
through His sharing in Your Divine nature.
You are a mystery as deep as the sea;
the more I search, the more I find,
and the more I find the more I search for You.
But I can never be satisfied;
what I receive will ever leave me desiring more.
When You fill my soul, I have an ever-greater hunger,
and I grow more famished for Your light.
I desire above all to see You,
the true light, as you really are.
Amen.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for Us …

“My Nature Is Fire” by St. Catherine of Siena

In your nature, eternal Godhead,
I shall come to know my nature.
And what is my nature, boundless love?
It is fire,
because you are nothing but a fire of love.
And you have given humankind
a share in this nature,
for by the fire of love you created us.
And so, with all other people
and every created thing;
you made them out of love.
O ungrateful people!
What nature has your God given you?
His very own nature!
Are you not ashamed to cut yourself off from such a noble thing
through the guilt of deadly sin?
O eternal Trinity, my sweet love!
You, light, give us light.
You, wisdom, give us wisdom.
You, supreme strength, strengthen us.
Today, eternal God,
let our cloud be dissipated
so that we may perfectly know and follow your Truth in truth,
with a free and simple heart.
God, come to our assistance!
Lord, make haste to help us!
Amen.

Prayer to Saint Catherine of Siena for Mothers expecting a Child

Humble virgin and
Doctor of the Church,
in thirty-three years
you achieved great perfection
and became the counselor of Popes.
You know the temptations of mothers
today as well as the dangers
that await unborn infants.
Intercede for me
that I may avoid miscarriage
and bring forth a healthy baby
who will become a true child of God.
Also pray for all mothers,
that they may not resort to abortion
but help bring a new life
into the world.
Amen.

A Prayer to God to follow St. Catherine Siena

Heavenly Father, your glory is in your saints. We praise your glory in the life of the admirable St. Catherine of Siena, virgin and doctor of the Church. Her whole life was a noble sacrifice inspired by an ardent love of Jesus, your unblemished Lamb.

In troubled times she strenuously upheld the rights of His beloved spouse, The Church. Father, honour her merits and hear her prayers for each of us, and for our whole parish family dedicated to her. Help us to pass unscathed through the corruption of this world, and to remain unshakably faithful to the church in word, deed, and example.

Help us always to see in the Vicar of Christ an anchor in the storms of life, and a beacon of light to the harbor of your Love, in this dark night of your times and men’s souls. Grant also to each of us our special petition …

(State your own intentions)

We ask this through Jesus, your Son, in the bond of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

April 30th

Saint Pius V

Novena To Saint Pius V, Pope

The scourge of war is on us,
for the worship of God is despised:
the chastisement that avenges guilt is menacing our earth.
In this peril, which of the heavenly citizens
can we better invoke in our defence than you, O Saint Pius?
O blessed Pontiff!
No mortal ever laboured with such zealous vigor
to promote God’s glory on earth as you did;
No mortal ever struggled, as you did,
to free Christian lands from the yoke
which barbarians were seeking to put upon them.
Your power is greater now that you are in heaven:
look upon us your clients!
Restrain civil discord and repel our enemies.
May your prayers bring golden peace upon the earth;
that in calm security we may sing our canticles to God with a gladder heart.
To You, O Blessed Trinity, one God,
be glory, praise and power,
forever and ever.

Amen.

Let us pray

‘O God, Who You were pleased to break the teeth
of them that hate Your Church,
and to restore again the solemn worship of Yourself,
did choose Saint Pope Pius V to work for You in that matter,
grant that he may still be a tower of strength for us.
Grant that we also may be more than conquerors
over all that make war upon our souls,
and in the end may enter into perfect peace in Your presence.’

More than ever, we need to again
restore divine worship with reverence towards God
as St. Pope Pius V accomplished.
We have had enough of the worldly worship of man in our churches,
(Pleasing the people with music,
clapping, jokes, ‘prayer’ facing them,
dramas, dances and everyone getting in on the ‘Show’.)

Father,
you chose Saint Pius V as pope of your Church
to protect the faith and give you more fitting worship.
By his prayers,
help us celebrate your holy mysteries
with a living faith and an effective love.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Our Father…, Hail Mary…, Glory Be…

Collect Prayer

O God, who in your providence raised up Pope Saint Pius the Fifth in your Church that the faith might be safeguarded and more fitting worship be offered to you, grant, through his intercession, that we may participate in your mysteries with lively faith and fruitful charity. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
Amen.
