The Miracle Prayer – by Fr Peter Rookey

Lord Jesus, I come before you, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In your Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give you my entire self, Lord Jesus, now and forever. I invite you into my life, Jesus. I accept you as my Lord, God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit. Come Lord Jesus, cover me with your Precious Blood, and fill me with your Holy Spirit. I love you Lord Jesus. I praise you Jesus. I thank you Jesus. I shall follow you every day of my life.

Say this prayer faithfully, no matter how you feel. When you come to the point where you sincerely mean each word with all your heart, Jesus will change your whole life in a very special way. You will see.

St. Peregrine, Patron of Cancer Patients

The night before a cancerous growth on his foot was scheduled to be amputated, he spent hours in prayer. As he dozed, he had a vision of Christ coming and touching his foot, and woke to find his foot completely healed. In turn, Peregrine healed many people through his prayers which is why the Church considers Saint Peregrine the patron saint of cancer patients.

Prayer for yourself

St. Peregrine, whom Holy Mother Church has declared Patron of those suffering from Cancer, I confidently turn to you for help in my present sickness. I beg your kind intercession. Ask God to relieve me of this sickness, if it be his Holy Will. Plead with the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Sorrows, whom you loved so tenderly and in union with whom you have suffered the pains of Cancer, that she may help me with her powerful prayers and loving consolation.

But if it should be God’s Holy Will that I bear this sickness, obtain for me courage and strength to accept these trails from the loving hand of God with patience and resignation, because he knows what is best for the salvation of my soul. St. Peregrine, be my friend and patron. Help me to imitate you in accepting suffering, and to unite myself with Jesus Crucified and the Mother of Sorrows, as you did. I offer my pains to God with all the love of my heart, for his glory and the salvation of souls, especially my own.

Prayer for someone who is ill

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.

(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying) Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.

Prayer for the Sick and the Dying

Father of Love and Mercy, You miraculously cured Saint Peregrine of an advanced cancer of his foot when the power of man could do more. You favored him with the vision of Jesus coming down from His cross to heal his affliction.

Hear the prayers we offer, through the intercession of Saint Peregrine, for the cure of the sick and dying whom we entrusted to You.

May all who suffer pain, illness, or disease know that You are with them even in the depths of despair. Enable them to see Your plan and bring them closer to Your Son who accepted our suffering to teach us the virtues of meekness and patience as we carry our crosses through life.

For many years, you were afflicted with the same cancerous disease from which thousands now suffer. Prayer for the Conquest of Cancer

Our Lord, in whose hands are the issues of life and death, we thank you that you are a God of Love. From the gift of our lives to the moment we return to you, we are in your loving care. We turn to you in times of joys and times of pain. We are concerned for those in pain, those who suffer from cancer, and for those who care from them.

Bless we pray, those who minister to the victims of this dread disease. Give them skill and knowledge that cures may be wrought. Give we pray, a discovery of the cure of cancer and knowledge of how to prevent it. Increase we pray, your ministry of healing through all who labor in research and the health professions. That one day we may rejoice in a world free from the scourge of cancer in which all may live out their span of life in useful service to you and your children. To You we shall give praise.

Prayer to St. Agatha, Patroness of Breast Cancer Patients

St. Agatha, woman of valor, from your own suffering we have been moved to ask your prayers for those of us who suffer from breast cancer. We place (person’s name) before you, and ask you to intercede on their behalf. From where you stand in the health of life eternal, all wounds healed, and all tears wiped away, pray for (prayer intention), and all of us. Pray God will give us His holy benediction of health and healing. And, we remember you were a victim of torture and that you learned, first hand, of human cruelty and inhumanity. We ask you to pray for our entire world. Ask God to enlighten us with a “genius for peace and understanding.”

Ask Him to send us His Spirit of Serenity, and ask Him to help us share that peace with all we meet. From what you learned from your own path of pain, ask God to give us the Grace we need to remain holy in difficulties, not allowing our anger or our bitterness to overtake us.

Pray that we will be more peaceful and more charitable. And from your holy pace in our mystical body, the Church, pray that we, in our place and time will, together, create a world of justice and peace.

Saint Agatha, blessed virgin and martyr. You are honored as the patron of breast cancer. You suffered pain and torture in your devotion to the Lord. St. Ezekiel Moreno (1848-1906)

St. Ezekiel Moreno is the patron saint of cancer patients.

Born in Alfaro, Logrono, Spain on 9 April 1848. He also went to Columbia in 1888, where he devoted himself to missionary activity. He brought renewal to the Augustinian Recollect communities in the region. In 1906 he was diagnosed of cancer, and returned to Spain for treatment. He died on 19 August, 1906 and was beatified by Pope Paul VI in 1975. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1992.

Loving God, in St. Ezekiel Moreno you have given us a model of courage in times of suffering. I turn to you at this moment of my life for strength.
