Catholic Prayers Armed Forces

PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Prayer for Protection for Those in the Service

O God, I beseech You, watch over those exposed to the horror of war,
and the spiritual dangers of a soldier’s or sailor’s life.
Give them such a strong faith that no human respect may ever lead them to deny it,
nor fear ever to practice it. By Your grace, O God, fortify them against the contagion of bad example,
that being preserved from vice, and serving You faithfully,
they may be ready to meet You face to face when they are so called: through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Sacred Heart! Inspire them with sorrow for sin, and grant them pardon.
Mother of God! Be with them on the battlefield during life and at the hour of death,
and grant that they may live and die in the grace of thy Son. Amen.

 Prayer for Policemen

O Almighty God, Whose great power and eternal Wisdom embraces the universe,
Watch over all policemen and Law enforcement officers everywhere.
Protect them from harm In the performance of their duty To stop crime, robbery, Riots and violence.
We pray, help them keep our streets And homes safe, day and night.
We commend them to your loving care Because their duty is dangerous.
Grant them strength and courage In their daily assignments.
Dear God, protect these brave men and women.
Grant them your almighty protection, Unite them safely with their families after Duty has ended.
Please God, grant us this wish. Amen.

The U.S. Coast Guard Prayer

Almighty and Everlasting God,

Whose hand stills the tumult of the deep,

we offer our prayers for those who serve in our Coast Guard.

We are mindful of their traditions of selfless service

to the seafarers who make their ways to appointed ports.

Employ their devotions of good ends

as they track the weather and search for the seas

for those in extremity of storm, shipwreck or battle.

Make their soundings and markings sure that safe passages

may be found by those who go down to the sea in ships.

Encourage them, O Lord, as they stand guard over

our coasts and the bulwarks of our freedoms.

Graciously deliver them from threatening calamities

in all their perilous voyages.

Bless the keepers of the lights and

be Thou their close friend in lonely watches.

Keep the beacons of honor and duty burning that

they may reach the home port with duty well performed,

in service to Thee and our land.

Amen.

Our Lady Star of the Sea

Our Lady Star of the Sea, through you came the light of the world. You cared for the Son of God. Now all God’s children are your charge. To those who are in distress you provide a beacon of hope. If we wander from our faith you guide us back to our true course. In dark times we pray to you, everlasting light of our lives. Blessed Virgin, chosen by God, Our Lady Star of the Sea, pray for us.

Amen.

For seafarers

Lord, ruler over waves and sea, keep your blessed hand over all seafarers. Give them the strength to lead a Christian life aboard their ships. Do not let them disappoint anyone who may expect their help aboard. Keep their families at home in your care. Even when far away from them for long, let them always be attached to them. Help all seafarers to keep on the right course always, and to reach the safe port of heaven.

Amen.

 AIR FORCE PRAYER

Lord guard and guide the men who fly,
Through the great spaces of sky.
Be with them as they take to air,
I’m morning light and sunshine fair.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Give them courage, make them brave.
Protect them whereso’er they go,
From shell and flak and fire and foe.

Most loved Member of their crew,
Ride with them up in the blue.
Direct their bombs upon the foe,
but shelter those whom Thou dost know.

Keep them together upon their way.
Grant their work success today.
Deliver them from hate and sin,
and bring them safely down again.

O God bless the men who fly,
Through lonely way across the sky,

Amen.

  • “Lord God, Creator of heaven and earth, You watch over all who travel. I place myself in Your care as I begin this flight. Grant safety to our pilot and crew, keep every passenger in Your protection, and guard us from all harm in the air and on the ground. May Your angels surround this aircraft, and may we arrive safely at our destination. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

United States Air Force Academy The Cadet Prayer                                                     Lord, God of hosts, my life is a stewardship in Your sight. Grant me the light of Your wisdom to the path of my cadet days. Instill within me an abiding awareness of my responsibility toward You, my country and my fellow man.

I ask true humility that, knowing self, I may rise above human frailty. I ask courage that I may prove faithful to duty beyond self. I ask unfailing devotion to personal integrity that I may ever remain honorable without compromise.

Make me an effective instrument of Your peace in the defense of the skies that canopy free nations. So guide me daily in each thought, word and deed, that I may fulfill Your will. May these graces abide with me, my loved ones, and all who share my country’s trust. Amen

 USAF Security Police

Lord, you have called up to be guardians of a nation founded on your principles. Whatever our tasks as Security Police men and women, we do them to serve you and our nation. We are proud to accept the responsibility of this high calling. We dedicate ourselves to our vocation, and ask for guidance and courage in aiding our people to live with dignity, in safety and peace.

We know that true security comes from your presence, so we pray with the psalmist:

You bless those who obey you, Lord;

Your love protects them like a shield.

Use us, O Lord, as shields for your people, reflecting your security and peace. AMEN

Prayer of the Air Force Wife

Dear God, I am proud to be wed to one who defends freedom and peace.

My challenges are many and I pray for your love and guidance to meet them.

Special to me are the symbols representing my religion, country, community & home.

I pray for the wisdom and grace to be true to their meanings.

You are the symbol of my religious beliefs and the source of my strength.

Because my life is full of change, I cherish the solid and constant spiritual foundation

that you provide.  Help me Lord, to be an example of your teachings.

My national flag represents freedom.

Let me never forget, or take for granted, the hope it shows to the world.

Bless those who have made sacrifices for freedom.

As I enter the gateway to a military community, guide me to reach out to others and keep it a wholesome place.

May my charity be given without thought of personal rewards.

My wedding ring represents eternity and never ending love.

Let me celebrate all of the joys of our togetherness & find comfort in them during times of separation.

I pray also that we are spared the ultimate sacrifice of duty to country.

My house is a symbol of our family and  its unity.

It is a place where we share memories of the past and build dreams of the future.

Make willing my heart and hands to do even the smallest tasks that will make our house a better home.

Thank you, God, for being with us as we live in the Air Force.

Please grant us your continued blessings, increased strength and infinite guidance, as we live to your honour and glory.  Amen.

A Prayer for Those in the Military

Almighty God, we stand before you in supplication, asking Your Divine mercy and protection, to envelop with Your invincible Armor our loved ones in all branches of the service.
Give them courage and strength against all enemies, both spiritual and physical, and hasten their safe journey back to their homes and families.
If it be Your Holy Will that they be gathered to Your bosom with the eternal vanguard of the saints, let their journey to Your everlasting arms be swift and painless, where they may stand in honour and glory, praising You for all eternity. Amen.

A Prayer for the Military

Amen.

Prayer for Courage in Time of Battle

O Prince of peace, we humbly ask your protection for all our men and women in military service.
Give them unflinching courage to defend with honour, dignity and devotion, the rights of all who are imperilled by injustice and evil.
Be their rock, their shield, and their stronghold and let them draw their strength from you.
For you are God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for Military Chaplains

Heavenly Father, bless and protect Military Chaplains  and fill them with the joy and courage of their vocation  as personal ministers of Christ in preaching your word  and nourishing us with the Sacraments.  Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Patrick’s Breastplate (excerpt)

May the strength of God guide me this day, and may his power preserve me.
May the wisdom of God instruct me; the eye of God watch over me; the ear of God hear me;
the word of God give sweetness to my speech; the hand of God defend me;
and may I follow the way of God.

Christ be with me, Christ before me,
Christ be after me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right hand, Christ at my left,
Christ in the fort, Christ in the chariot,
Christ in the ship,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

Prayer — A Prayer for Our Soldiers & Troops (Crosswalk)

A Prayer for Those Who Protect Our Nation

Dear God,
Please be with the men and women in uniform,
who bravely serve our communities and nation every single day.
We ask that you cover them with your protection,
that you would be their guiding force who leads the way,
and their rear guard who keeps them safe from behind.
We ask that you would draw them to yourself amidst the dangers
they face in a dark world, for you are the Truth, you are the Way, you are the Light.

When the voice of hate rises up against them, we ask that you would silence it.
When the plans of the enemy rise up to cause them to stumble,
we ask that you would thwart it.
When the forces of evil rise up to strike them down, we ask that you would stop it.
Lord, we know how powerful you are …
and we ask that you would indeed be the wind beneath their wings,
the power behind their efforts, the heart behind their service,
as they are on the front lines against evil in our world today.

Help them to walk wisely. To stay covered in your armor.
Give them godly discernment. Make them constantly aware
of what lurks close by. Help them to be men and women of prayer,
realizing that this is where their greatest help comes from.
Help them to stay united and strong, bold and resolute, determined and unwavering.

Lord bless all those who wear the uniform, who serve our cities, our nation, our people.
Bless their families. Bless those they love.
Give them your great favor, this day, and every day.
And thank you that as believers,
we can be assured, you never leave us, and you are with us always,
in this life, and the next.
In the Powerful and Present Name of Jesus, Amen.
